I've calculated the budget in euros, and it was approximately € 50,000,000. Is this correct, and if so, does this make Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre the most expensive movie ever made in Europe?

shareI think it's still the most expensive then. Other expensive European movies, such as Johnny English, Zwartboek, Der Untergang and Mar adentro don't even come close. There is Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiançailles, which cost $ 55 million (about as much in euros as Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre), but that probably doesn't count because the U.S. cooporated on that movie.

It certainly put its budget to good use. The Egyptian sets and costumes were outstanding.
