Li afraid of Julian

I just got finished watching some of the early cardcaptors episodes... I was wondering why in the early ones with Li and Julian why is Li afraid of him? Because as time passes he gets more comfortable but it never explains the initial fright.

I guess it could be explained in the Dub that Li could sense the Yui spirit in him. Really in the original version it's because Li develops a crush on him.
