Cardcaptors or Cardcaptor Sakura?

I have both in my Netflix queue, as I really loved Cardcaptors when it was on KidsWB. But I'm debating which one to watch first. I saw a lot of the CC episodes on KidsWB. I've never seen an episode of CCS. I kind of want to watch all of CC first, but on the other hand I don't want to wait that long to watch CCS! Which do you Cardcaptor afficianados recommend I watch first?

And another question. Are the CCS DVD menus entirely in Japanese? Meaning is it going to be hard for me to figure out where to turn on the English subtitles?

in my opinon cardcaptors is way better. The japenese voice of sakura sounds a little to kidish to be a hero that battles evil... And its easier not to have to read the whole thing. its also hard to tell who is who (since a lot of their names have changed) Madison's voice sounds annoying...

Well, I agree that Cardcaptors was a pretty cool series and worth watching, but it depends on how much you care the story itself. The english versions cut out so much and you might end up confused about some things. Also the entired english version was never released on dvd, it aired on tv but they stopped producing the dvds before completion. So in the end if you want to see the series you'll either have to watch the japanese dvds anyway, or search for a download or youtube video. If you don't mind reading subtitles I'd go with the japanese version, that way you'll get the big picture.

They are both very different and shouldn't be compared. Instead you should watch both of them.

I think since you've already seen Cardcaptors, you should watch CardCaptor Sakura and give it a chance. I watched CC growing up and loved it.. But I just recently ordered CCS and now watching it... There is so much stuff that was cut out when it was translated. So many major things happened that was taken out in the English version.. It sucks. But it's still good. So if you want to see all the good juicy parts like when Sakura confesses her love to... >_> Sorry. Spoiler. And it's NOT who you think it is either. Heh.

Also, the CCS Menus are in Japanese but it's not that hard. The main menu has Play All, Chapters, and Subtitles in that order. And then in the Subtitles menu, it goes Japanese, English, and Main Menu. Does that help? n_n

Cardcaptors is way better than anything else made by CLAMP. I was actually shocked to find out that this great anime was made by them.

CLAMP is brilliant and if it wasn't for them Cardcaptors would never have been made.

CLAMP made by Chobits which is also a brilliant anime and at least CLAMP stick ot the storyline when Cardcaptors is all over the place and they took the best things out like the Sakura/Syaoran relationship. Also how many episodes are missing.

I recently read Cardcaptor Sakura the manga and I was not impressed at all. In fact the only CLAMP manga that I ever liked that I read was Angleic Layer everything else is pure rubbish in my opinion.

Whats the difference between them?

Cardcaptors is the English version with many episodes cut out to focus it both on Sakura and Li. Also, a lot of romance was cut out because homosexuality is inappropriate for kids, according to the dubbers. ;D

I personally prefer Cardcaptors b/c I can't stand the Japanese voices. No ten year old girl has such a high-pitched voice.

reply

Any 10 year old girl who sounds like a valley girl (as in the dubbed version) should be beaten.

reply

In japan they girls do have higher pitched voices and i'm not lying.
