Will I like this film if I liked Billy Elliot?

Billy Elliot is one of my favourite films so I thought I'd look up others by the same writer, and found this. Is the fact I enjoyed Billy Elliot anything to go by - is it of the same calibre/ reminiscent of it in any way? The premise sounds a bit gooey to me but then I might order it anyway as I hjust saw my old drama teacher on the cast list so I think that might be an omen for me to watch it lol.
