Disney Should Put It On the Alice In Wonderland DVD
Hansel and Gretel is being shown as part of the Tim Burton exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. They have it playing in a small alcove with cushions on the ground and there are a bunch of designs and storyboards on the wall opposite the little theater. It is really delightful and imaginative, with a great many images I can't stop thinking about hours later. And it's pretty funny. It was also a real treat to see the bit at the end where Vincent Price appears to give a brief closing statement.
The exhibit marker on the wall next to the screen they are showing it on says that Disney commissioned the program and aired it on the Disney Channel. They should really consider adding it as a feature on the eventual Alice in Wonderland DVD (as they did with Vincent and Frankenweenie on the Nightmare Before Christmas disc). It has a wonderfully colorful fairy-tale look and feel, and it seems as good a fit as any to include it there.
Though I'd really just like to see it get a home video release however they want to do it, so I can see it again.
