I played 7, thought it was brilliant but then i played 9.....Which one do you like best?

9 will always be the best.

I liked 9 but I think its story was too derivative of previous games in the series, especially the last act.

reply

9 was wonderful. I fell in love with the characters in 9 more than 7.

You'd better be careful around me, or you'll end up in my novel.

reply

Without a doubt 9 is definitely the best, because it truly had a great and beautiful story, going from continent to continent, meeting new people and helping them with their problems, fighting and beating the bad guys. The AMV'S were cool and with great quality picture and sound and the music was very Suspenseful, scary, hypnotic, funny, sad and breathtaking-- depending on what was happening of course, and the graphics were amazing.

And I love how each of the main characters tells their own story in their own different way because each of them have all lived different lives and have come from different places, so that makes each one of them unique and lovable-- including Kuja. And at the end of the game were Zidane and Garnet hug each other because Garnet thought he was probably dead and then the the game ended with an overview of the whole cast and Alexandria, and then the screen changed black and we saw Zidane's and Garnet's final lines, that was a great moment in the game and the entire game was great.

This game was incredible, I have never played anything with this much emotion and heart. I'd rate this game an A+++, 5 stars and 2 thumbs up, I hope the game wins an award-- no make that 10 awards one day in the near future because we all know it deserves them and more. I would love it if a sequel came out.

I liked ff9 but my first choice is without a doubt ff7. Everything about that game was perfect and when you thought you couldnt handle more content they just hit you with some new stuff. When i first boarded the submarine I was like wtf.. They've gotta be kidding me. I was expecting a cutscene and there's a whole new place to explore.

It has the most memorable characters especially Cloud as the anti-hero and Sephiroth as the anti-villain, the most powerful story of any console rpg, the best music score of any game period and some pretty epic fights..

Just getting a golden chocobo was a game in itself ffs..
Best money I ever spent was buying ff7.

reply

VII but only by a whisker. They're both really excellent games.

reply

I think 9 is the worst of all the final fantasy games, so I would choose 7.

FFIX is the best Final Fantasy there is, closely followed by X. FFXII while good is a joke compared.

7 is the best in the FF series

I'd then go 8, 9, 12

10 is the worst. Man that game sucked! (never bothered to play 10-2)

It's alright, Andy! It's just bolognaise!

9 was by far the most amazing game I have ever played. When I played it I was still a little kid which made the game most likely 300 times longer than it would take to beat it now but then, it took me a few months, even with playing it religiously. It had so much extra content that there was never a shortage of things to do. Finding the Chocographs was so enjoyable, frustrating, and rewarding at the same time. Attempting to upgrade your Chocobo and the thought of a new airship was awesome too. How about the scenes you only get at a certain point if you were in the right place at the right time. The Characters are beyond memorable, they were downright beautiful. Everything about 9 was perfect, there is not one complaint I have with that game...0.

So in order from best to worst.
FFIX
The original Tactics
7
8
10

9 was the 1st FF game I had ever played and then I played 7,8, and 10 and I was amazed at how bad they were compared next to FF9. I didn't love another Final Fantasy until I played Tactics for PS1. That game was also amazing, the story was AWESOME!

reply

My order would go..

9
7
8
10

I really started to dislike the games when the characters began speaking.

The characters in IX were much more thoroughly thought out and more well developed even over a period of time. In FF7 the only person that seemed to have a real personality was Cloud (and he was just effin crazy) Tifa might be the next closest character to havin a real personality but besides that most of the other characters went through life changing moments and stayed pretty static, not to mention some characters just weren't needed. Cait Sith could have been cut out of the picture easily. Aerith was really the only driving force in the game. 7 is an awesome game because half-way through they kill the main heroine. That's why it was shocking and great.

Now FF9. Zidane is an easily likable character who talks like most normal people would. He is caring and a bit of a womanizer (which all men can relate too) then we have Garnet/Dagger who trys numerous times to grow up quickly and doesn't accomplish that until late in the game after seeing things like war and massacre and facing some darkness. Steiner, the knight who duitifully does his job no matter the situation, also gave a contrast to battle Zidane's carefreeness and Garnet's sad and determinedness. Steiner added a stubborn old jack@$$ to the game. Freya was almost a grown up version of Garnet, i think she could've been more well-developed but she still provided some excellent lines and offered the sad lonely woman searching for a lost love. Vivi the unconfident little bundle of power. He was constantly supported by Steiner and Zidane but it took him a while before he allowed himself to believe in himself and become a strong grown up person. Eiko proved a funny and easily relatable person to the game. She is strong and stubborn in her 'like' for Zidane and crashes against Garnet even when she doesn't have to. Amarant gave us the big tough, 'I'm don't give a damn.' character that occasionally clashes with Zidane and believes in living his own way. In ways Amarant was a watered down version of Zidane who didn't get enough character development. Quina is just an excellently engineered character providing a constant question still asked today, 'Is it a he or a she?' Also providing a quirky intresting character that in its own way helped drive the game and teach valuable things.

That's just the party members in 9 there that I'm talking about among other characters... oh there are just too many people to talk about, there's Regent Cid and the even more valuable Garland and Kuja. FF 9 just overshadows all the other FF games even the greatly developed FF 10 which is the only close-second up there.

Now if they remade FF 7-9 with voice acting and updated graphics then the PS3 would sell sell sell like hot cakes, faster than the Wii. Its the only thing that could help the PS3 win this generation.

Well said.

I loved IX, and was personally more distraught over Vivi's sorrow after seeing the Black Mages being destroyed aboard the Cargo Ship than I was when Aeris died.

Trouble is, Aeris was just...nice. That's it. She's sweet, she's kind and whatever, but do we ever get to see any other side of her? A side to which we can just scream "Hell YEAH!!"?

Nope, not really. The woman's dressed in pink for Christ's sake.

However, Vivi has that sweet, pitiful side, but he can also kick some serious ass. And that what makes him a better character: you realise much more how much power he has, but you also see how insecure and scared he is. There's just more to him.

Oh, Zidane makes a welcome change after Squall and Cloud's angst-ridden selves.

I think 9 was the best too. I really liked the setting of the game. The characters had more development than in the previous games, and Zidane has realistic personality traits. The story and gameplay was not completely stupid either.

I think 7 comes pretty close though. I found 8 a little tedious to play and the story just not suited to be a video game. I've never played anything past 9 because I only have ps1.

I prefer the rendition of that when Steiner and Beatrix are purging Alexandria. 'tis way awesome.

"Is French kissing not kissing with tongues? So is French cricket not cricket with tongues?"

reply

O yeah I forgot to mention that.

reply

Ironic, really - considering your username.

"Is French kissing not kissing with tongues? So is French cricket not cricket with tongues?"

reply

Hehe. I love that song.

And that makes all the difference...

"Is French kissing not kissing with tongues? So is French cricket not cricket with tongues?"

reply

A reply to myself, I didn't even mention the bad guys. We got Sephiroth who is basically the normal messed up psycho that just wants his mommy (Ahhh) and decides to kill everyone and everything.
On the other hand we have Kuja, the effeminite looking young man who is for the most part quite sane. He uses powers that the world allows him to have and begins to tear the world piece from piece, but instead of just being like 'yay Imma go kill the whole world cause they don't like my mother' he picks out one person and decides to become better and stronger than him so that he can defeat him. Kuja was a much better bad guy than Sephiroth ever will be or could have been. FF9 needs a movie for gods sake.

Dang I have to start playing this game again...I'll have to set aside about 40 hours...

reply

7 was garbage compared to 9

reply

I thought 7 came in close behind 9. Now 8...8 looks like garbage compared to 9. Even though 8 wasn't the most terrible story I've ever heard.

reply

yep, 8's story sucked HUGE BALLS
anyone who doesnt think so should check their brains

and concerning VII vs IX, I'd go with IX. I dont think I have any big complains about IX. even the story being obviously less original than VII, is better

reply

IX definently now that VII has spawned countless sequels and has pretty much become an emo fest.
