to all weird foreigners whining about sex

Why is it so wrong to demand that the porn stay in the porn section and the movies just be movies?

There's nothing worse, as an American, then to be watching a film, trying to take it seriously and suddenly witness something that forces me to smother myself in olive oil and/or vaseline and make a night of self-pleasure of the whole thing.

Masturbation is a sport here in America, that's why we whine, the timing sometimes isn';t correct and I hate being tricked into funkadelics.

Yes, I speak for everyone, including creepy christian types who feign outrage.

you are God also, GOB(is that from arrested development?) but I agree with you 100%, hate it when a movie involves too much of a sexy scene and i get in the mood. amen my american brother.

you hear that? it's our song.

Seeing those two girls naked would turn anyone (who is into women) on. But I agree with you, the sex scenes weren't supposed to be arousing. They're there for plot development, methinks.

She might have fooled me, but she didn't fool my mother.

reply

Because not every movie showing sex is porn.

While I admit that of the non-porn movies I have seen "Baise-moi" is the weakest and most gratuitous, there are other movies showing real sex that cannot be compared to porn.

The biggest differences are that in porn
a) sex is the main focus of the movie and it does not intend to carry over any deeper message to the audience
b) the sex scenes are always supposed to arouse the viewer

In other movies that contain unsimulated sex-scenes, these are often used to shock the viewer and take him or her out of his comfort zone. But even when this is not the case the scenes are never as exploitive as in porn and they actually try to focus on the sensual aspect of sexuality instead of just trying to arouse the viewer.

I won't drop names here, but Baise-moi is by far the best (relatively speaking) of the modern artsy films made showing explicit sex. Trust me on this one.

reply

Since I have seen quite a few of the "modern artsy films" that show explicit sex I rather trust my own judgement, thank you. And in my opinion "Baise-Moi" is the weakest of the bunch. I don't think that it has a very high artistic value. It is not very well thought through and in my opinion it is little more than actual porn.

reply

can you name some more arthouse movies with explicit sex?

reply

Wow, I did not know you could still find this old thread...

You want tips? :-) OK, just to name the most famous ones:

Romance (1999), Intimacy (2001) (here only Oral sex is unsimulated, the vaginal penetration is simulated), Pola X (1999), Lucia y el sexo (2001), 9 Songs (2004), Idioterne (1998), Hotel Desire (2011).

I am not saying, that all of these movies are good, in fact, many of them I do not like that much, but in my opinion, all of them are better than Baise-moi

reply

There are millions of movies without explicit sex and a gazillion porn movies. Why should I complain about those very few non-porn movies that do have explicit sex!?!? I for one don't want to watch movies that are made up according to the same old formula for the rest of my life. Baise-Moi was no masterpiece but I think it's good that movies like these exist. And if they were better accepted, the makers of these movies would get bigger budgets and could put more effort in it, ultimately making them better. It's no wonder that those few movies that DO exist aren't the quality level of The Godfather because even if somene like Coppola would like to do such a movie, he wouldn't dare to because he'd be kicked out of Hollywood in tweo seconds. Think about it.

reply

You jacked off to 'Baise-Moi?' Ewwwww!

reply

Yeah, it's all strange, I mean with all the killing and f u c king in movies. If someone is shot and just - like in the old western movies - grabs his chest, says "aargh!" and falls on his back, everbody complains about how totally unrealistic it is. There has to be blood, entrance and exit wounds, we have to SEE it is real. But when it comes to sex, everybody complains when it looks real and does NOT pan away to a burning chimney fire or fades slowly out to some candlelight, before we even see a boob.
I want more detailed sex scenes in thriller and action movies. I can relate better to that, since I banged more women than I killed men. Life's a porno, biatches, get over it. ;)

reply

Hahaha well put, that was hilarious. And yes, if you can sit through all the death scenes in this, the sex should be a cake walk... friggin Americans man...

"Did you mean for all those words to come out like that or did they just fall out randomly?"-H.H.

reply

This is the 1st porn movie I sat all the way through.

Great job.

Ian,

as this is a French film, set in France, produced in France and promoted from England, that probably makes you the weird foreigner whining about sex.

In one of the Q&A sessions about this film the director quoted from "Scream": "A film can't make you do something, but it can make you more creative." If you want to lube up and self pleasure after watching this film then that's your choice, hopefully the film will make you more creative in doing that.

This film is a long way from porn, it is closer to "The Accused" or "the Scarlet Letter" than it is to "Debbie does Dallas" or "Chained Fury: Lesbian Lust Slaves". The presentation of the sex is often more horrifying or poignant than it is erotic, the stimulation is more cerebral than carnal.

I do think that US audiences are probably at a disadvantage in watching this film due to the mistranslation of the title for US release. 'Rape me' is a very poor translation. 'Shag Me' or '*beep* Me' (as IMDB list that as a title for this film I presume I'm permitted to use the F word here, wouldn't want to offend someone accidentally) or even 'Kiss Me' would be better translations. The mis-translation may set unrealistic expectations in the mind of the viewer and create an unrealistic paradigm through which they view and interpret the film.

no one's whining, there's just slight annoyance with those who think this is a real movie despite there being about 10 minutes of plot material total, and the rest is some silly revenge fantasy and porn scenes. what purpose does a sequence showing a women lapping semen off a penis serve? i mean if you show sex for once or twice, we get the point. keep showing off and it's clear you're trying to lengthen what is a very pointless and substance-less film.

agreed with original sentiments however. either make a porno or a movie, there's not mutually compatible. you'll just get the worst of both.

I thought this was hilarious! That's about 10 minutes more plot than any Transformers or Expendables movie so where are the people complaining about them? Oh yeah...they're extremely violent so those are fine with Americans.

You are also a foreigner. Almost anywhere else.

You're talking about a movie forcing you to masturbate? Wow man, I'm glad I don't have that problem. Do you get lots of boners at inappropriate times out in public?
