Fantastic movie, but why low-budget and no more movies?

I didn't know about this movie or the book until ysterday. There's this website where you can rent DVDs and watch movies on the internet. Now that I know there's songs and people are talking about a black unicorn, I'm completely confused. Maybe the website I watched the movie on doesn't have the entire film because it ended as a huge cliff hanger.

I don't mean to do this, but SPOILER (if you haven't watched the film). When I watched this film, it ended where the family, Manotaur, and their green-clothed friends were fighting trolls. Medusa went inside to avoid taking off her new glasses and turning everyone to stone. I am mainly confused if you guys are talking about stuff I'm not familiar with. Do I need to watch the movie again or does the website not have the entire film?
If I am right that it ended like that, why isn't there a sequel to it or something? They could've made another one in the past eight years.

Plus, I've tried looking up the book. There's this other author that turned Voyage of the Basset into a series. Her name is Terri Windling. Oh, but I think that's different; I'm not sure.

I know this is a double-post situation, but I don't want to delete my previous post. It turns out that the movie website I go to to watch other movies didn't have all of the volumes. I had to go to, um, YouTube to watch the entire movie. Thank goodness I thought of that website when it came to watching the bits I missed.

Paradream, I messed up. Go back to the movie on netflix. Under "At A Glance," there should be a description of the movie and a "Series List." It has both parts. I made the mistake of thinking they didn't have the rest of the movie. They do; we weren't just paying attention.
