I have just started to play MGS 2 and I love it. It's just one problem. I haven't played the first game, and when I choose that difficulty I start at the part when you play as Raiden. Everyone I have talked to says you play as Solid snake first, infiltrating a cargo ship. So my question to you is: do I get to play as snake at all, or am I just able to play the second part of the game, as Raiden?

So when you first start the game, you go straight to the Plant Chapter with Raiden? At the main menu screen, when you selected new game, and then selected the difficulty, is there a screen that lets you select which parts of the game you want to play? The options are something like "Tanker-Plant", "Tanker" and "Plant". If you want to play the whole game, select "Tanker-Plant". You play the Tanker chapter as Snake, but that chapter is only about a third of the game. The rest of the game is with Raiden.
I haven't played the first game...You might want to do so. If you don't, you'll be totally lost with the story. If you can't play it, at least read up on the plot at the Metal Gear Wiki (www.metalgear.wikia.com)
