Best Video Game Of All Time

Needed to be said.

The peasants hating on the game because of Raiden are pathetic

The people that are bashing it's story are, well it's a more legit argument, but a lot of love went into the story here, and wether you got it or not, it isn't some convoluted mess, like some people like to call it, it's a very well thought out story, with a crazy amount of depth.

Easily the most polished game in the series, most air tight gameplay. Simply the best video game I have ever played.

While I love the game and I didnt mind playing as Raiden, I dont think it was the best in the series,or blatantly the best game of all time. Metal Gear Solid 3 I would say was the best in the series. As for the best game of all time, though that is usually subjective, I dont think there really is any game that could be considered that title.

Not as good as Metal Gear Solid. It's a classic.

I think I have to agree. Even though I technically prefer Metal Gear Solid 1 for the music, story and boss battles, Metal Gear Solid 2 is overall the most polished and has like you said, the most air tight gameplay. I have completed it way more times than MGS1.

You prefer 1 for the story? For me it's the opposite. MGS2 has one of the, if not the best stories I've ever seen in a video game. At first it seems like a rehash of MGS1 but when it's later explained why that's the case and everything about the Patriots and GW AI... simply mind-blowing. Really reminded me of Deus Ex.

On the other hand the story of MGS1 is really sloppy at times. Like when Solid Snake with his 180iq can't figure out that he's being played to activate Metal Gear to the very end despite all the obvious evidence.

MGS1 story keeps it more simple (simple for an MGS game anyway), MGS2 gets a bit too crazy and convoluted for my taste. Plus the characters are infinitely more memorable and iconic in MGS1. I mean come on, every boss battle is a homerun in that game. From Revolver Ocelot to Sniper Wolf to Raven to Ninja to Psycho Mantis. The story and boss battles feel way more epic.

The keycard thing was just a plot device I guess, that wasn't a big deal to me.

I agree about the bosses, they were iconic and every sequel up to MGS4 tries to replicate the same thing but manages worse than the previous one. I was only criticizing the plot though. That the atmosphere, characters, music, and everything else is great I agree with you.
I'd even say that the gameplay isn't any worse than in MGS2 if you take the period it was made in into account. Yeah, it's rather simplistic compared to the sequels, but playing all the VR missions has convinced me it's also as smooth as it gets.

I wish they would remake MGS1 for the PS5 with the original voice acting, and just turn up the graphics to 11. I know they made Twin Snakes but the new voice acting wasn't as good and the cutscenes were ridiculous. Like something out of a John Woo movie.

Yep.
