Why didnt George Foreman play himself?

Hes still pretty young looking (nothing that a good make up job couldnt save) and he wouldnt have had any difficult acting scenes. With all his other TV roles Im surprised he didnt play himself.

WTF? George Foreman couldn't have possibly played himself. He was a focking beast back then...the George Forman you're thinking about is a round Teddy Bear.

reply

LOL. Enzo is so true, what are you smoking?

If you find out let me know. I gotta get me some of that!

bump that sounds like some good stuff

Foreman could have played Foreman? That's like saying todays Ali could have played the Ali back then.

No disrespect meant to Ali AT ALL, but Foreman, POSSIBLY could have gotten into shape like (God I'm gonna butcher his name) But Gov.. Schwartzanegger was able to get back into the SAME shape and weight that he was during T2 so that when he played in T3 he'd look ALMOST exactly the same. Foreman ''possibly' could have done something along those lines....

Ali on the other hand (this is where lightning may strike me) sort of looks like a Parkinson's Patient off his meds and confused.

AGAIN, NO Disrespect meant, Ali was great, but foreman could prolly put in the time, some Human growth hormone in a country where it's legal, and with makeup maybe played his character. But Ali? I Mean you've all seen him... I feel terrible, but no - he couldn't have even tried to do some cameo 'stock footage type looking scene at his age and state of being.

Philosphily also doesn't seem to realize that these events were 30 years ago and although George is looking good, 30 years is a long time to put on a person. Besides George isn't an actor though I have seen him in some commercials.

enzo2387 you called him a "beast". I actually want to take it one step further. In his prime I would have put my money on Foreman even over Mike Tyson (also in prime). Yes Tyson was powerfully built and hits damn hard but Foreman was HUGE bigger than Tyson and possibly an even harder puncher. Foreman punched WAY harder than Ali and the only reason Ali won the fight is he as very fast on his feet and did a superb job stalling for time and tiring his opponent out by "dancing" around the relatively flat footed Foreman. Toe to toe Foreman would have killed him. Also, no way Tyson could have beaten Ali, and no way Tyson could have put up as good a fight as Foreman did, which is why I think Tyson could not have beaten Foreman.

Ali beat Foreman because Foreman didn't have half the stamina Ali did, which was all Foreman's fault. IIRC, there were reports that Foreman didn't train for stamina, because he was so confident in his ability to knock out any opponent in the 3rd or 4th round at the latest.

Ali used his ability to take a punch (and, I'd assume, the fact that the ropes Ali laid against helped to absorb the blows) to trick Foreman into clobbering Ali's body, doing little damage to Ali and tiring Foreman out.

The Rope A Dope was invented that day. This man was a genius in the ring.

Yeah, George Foreman was like a the incredible hulk back in those days. I mean he almost destroyed Joe Frazier and Joe was a like a killer of other boxers himself. And Foreman used to never smile during interviews or any other time related to fights...he projected an image of an extremely serious and focused killing machine. So to see Foreman the way Ali and the rest of the world saw him back then was to see this overpowering enigmatic beast of destruction not the grandfatherly and avuncular teddy bear we think of now.

He's makin' Grills on the assembly line... Much to busy for a role in a Hollywood Film

But hey Rock had a live TV show!

I too am surprised that George Foreman didn't jump at the chance to recreate the most crushing defeat of his career and get paid less money than he makes in a day to do it. Who wouldn't want to do that?

George Carlin: It's all bullsh-t and it's bad for ya.

Plus, Foreman is a hypocritical religious pussy now, like they all are, and doesn't like that period of his life.

How dare these boxers challenge me with their primitive skills.

good head fake, OP. everyone took your "question" seriously. but why didn't malcolm x play himself?

What the $%*& is a Chinese Downhill?!?

reply

So you want George Forman to go in and play out one of the most embarrasing moments in his life?

reply

You have got to be kidding! George was well into his fifties when that film was made and would have had to lose 50 pounds to look anything like he did in the 1970s.

I'd bet the house you'd never call him that to his face.

I don't reply to the person I happen to post after. I quoted the person in bold letters to know who I was quoting, I would have thought that would be obvious.
