"The Harder They Fall"

Those who say his Dementia and Parkinsonism were NOT caused by his years in the Ring are FULL of it!

If he had driven a cab for a living, he may have lived fifteen more years and had Quality of Life for the last Thirty.

So tell me why all boxers dont have it .

Well, TCW, I'll bet the "Bums" who lose fights and are Dealt out early in their careers, may be less at risk than the 25-5 guys who Box for Years, or, in Ali's Case, Decades. And then there is the way he fought, deliberately absorbing punishment, leaning against the ropes late in this career, and then the hunted became the hunter and he knocked the other dude out. But he took Battle Damage in the process. And those Last two fights against Larry Holmes, he really got his Bell rung.

Ali had it
Joe Louis had it

Probably MANY of them had it, if a Pathologist examined their Brain.

Almost ALL NFL players have CTE. The exceptions are probably QBs and kickers. TRUE, some show symptoms Decades before others. That may be Genetics in play, or the use of Booze, Tobacco, and Drugs making things worse.

so you have named 2 , out of thousands and thousands.
yes, 2 that had good long careers as champs .. but 2.
TWO.2. ttttwwwwoooo.
most of those bums have long careers too, just don't get famous..aaaaand get a lot more punishment .
. unless you have PROOF, no one wants to hear it.

So ... just to clarify; you're saying that there's no scientific evidence that numerous blows to the head, over the course of many years, causes neurological damage? If so, then perhaps you can help me. I am a Nigerian Prince who has a large sum of money which I can't currently access. However if you wire me $5000 I will be able to access my money and, in return for your help, I will give you $20,000 back. Shall I send you the details of how you can wire the $5000 to me?

no dumb ass,
that's not what i said.. why don't they all have parkinson's ??
pilots who do "traps" aka carrier landings and trip wires receive a an equal if not greater force of brain trauma .
they do an average of 150 landing per rotation in peacetime. not to mention the practice runs on land to keep qualified.
SO, why aren't all of them shaking like michael j fox ??
now let's talk about soccer players, who also have an average of the same head trauma as boxers.. so.. once again... why aren't they all twitching like like they belong in a "thriller" video?
Parkinson's isn't from impacts to head.

one last thing, if he drove a cab, a man named cassius clay would have died with parkinson's and no one would have given a crap.

That's the implication of what you're saying. You're trying to assert that every boxer - and now you've expanded it to include some other professions which are NOT even remotely close - should suffer the same neurological effects, even though that is clearly a ridiculous assertion. You're trying to say that Ali's Parkinson's Disease wasn't caused by boxing because not all retired boxers end up with it. You might as well claim that smoking doesn't cause lung cancer because not every smoker ends up with it. The FACTS of the matter are that:

1. It isn't known whether Ali's boxing career caused his Parkinson's Disease, or whether it contributed to it, or whether it had nothing to do with it at all.

2. It is known that suffering brain trauma on a continuous basis, such as that which occurs in boxing - and some other sports such as American Football - can lead to neurological damage; including Parkinson's Disease. Numerous boxers - many, MANY more than 2 - have ended up suffering some form of long term brain damage as a result of boxing.

So ... now you're claiming that pilots who land planes on an aircraft carrier suffer the same head trauma as boxers, but you are calling me a "dumb ass"??? That's hilarious! Pilots do NOT receive a blow to the head when they land a plane on an aircraft carrier. Pilots do NOT endure concussions from landing a plane on an aircraft carrier. Pilots are NOT ever knocked unconscious when they land a plane on an aircraft carrier. It's completely bizarre that you think landing a plane on an aircraft carrier is even remotely close to being punched in the head!

Just for the sake of the argument though, let's pretend that this utterly ridiculous assertion is true; that the force of deceleration exerted by landing on an aircraft carrier somehow, magically, is the same as a direct blow to the head. The force involved in a punch to the head in boxing can be as high as 50g - i.e. 50 times the force of gravity - while the force involved in landing on an aircraft carrier is less than 5g; usually around 3 times the force of gravity. So even if the two things were the same - which they clearly are NOT - then a punch in boxing produces roughly 10 times the amount of force as landing on an aircraft carrier. In other words, if the two things were the same - which they are NOT - then boxing would be 10 times worse, and that's before taking into consideration the fact that boxers get hit in the head hundreds, if not thousands, of times more frequently than pilots land on aircraft carriers.

SO, why aren't all of them shaking like michael j fox ??

Because the 2 things are completely and utterly different. They're not even REMOTELY similar; as anyone with half a brain knows. You don't seem to be able to comprehend it though! In fact ... you weren't a boxer once upon a time were you???

now let's talk about soccer players, who also have an average of the same head trauma as boxers

WHAT. ON. EARTH. ARE. YOU. TALKING. ABOUT?

so.. once again... why aren't they all twitching like like they belong in a "thriller" video?

Because playing soccer does NOT result in head trauma like that which occurs in boxing. The two sports are not even REMOTELY similar.

Parkinson's isn't from impacts to head.

Yes, dumb ass, it is. People who have suffered head injuries - say ... from ... um ... boxing - are 4 times more likely to develop Parkinson's Disease. Does that mean that ALL boxers will end up with Parkinson's Disease? No, it doesn't; which everyone but you seems to comprehend. Does it mean that everyone who gets Parkinson's Disease suffered head injuries? No, it doesn't; which everyone but you seems to comprehend. Does it mean that Muhammad Ali's case of Parkinson's Disease was caused by his boxing career? As I've already said, that is unknown - and it will never be known with certainty - but given that head injury increases the likelihood of getting Parkinson's Disease, and given that Muhammad Ali suffered numerous head injuries during his career, it's probable that boxing contributed to him getting it, if it wasn't the outright cause.

one last thing, if he drove a cab, a man named cassius clay would have died with parkinson's and no one would have given a crap.

It is UNKNOWN whether Cassius Clay would have died with Parkinson's Disease if he had driven a cab instead of being a boxer. However it is PROBABLE that his boxing career contributed to his Parkinson's Disease and, as such, it is a distinct POSSIBILITY that he would not have ended up with Parkinson's Disease if he had driven a cab.

you have FAILED !! utterly f#cking failed!!

ever see fox off his meds?? thriller time!!
parkinson's is genetic, ali would have gotten it regardless of boxing.

the brain is injured by hitting the side of the skull!!
pilots doing traps , doing headers with a soccer ball injure the brain.
imagine doing 30 min of headers for practice.. that like getting jabbed to the head every 15 seconds!! its serious enough that people want to ban headers in soccer for 18 and under.

you want to take a guess what happens to inside your head when slamming to a stop while landing a jet ?? they studied it!! white matter and tissue damage as great as boxers..

here is the bottom line.. SO MANY different ways to injure the head as much as a boxer .. thousands and thousands of boxers .. yet only a few cases of parkinson's in every group...

well, dumbass, ask your mom how many times she dropped you on your head, clearly youre due for parkinson's to show up!!

And he could have also been shot to death by a robber in his cab and died right there. Don't be narrow minded.
