This show was a Highlander rip-off.

Okay, a long-haired, hunky immortal. Check. He carries a sword. Check. He fight battles with evil beings. Check. Make those evil beings demons instead of other evil immortals. Check.

Needless to say, I got the impression this series was trying to cash in on the success of "Highlander: The Series."

IMDB should have a bottom 100 for tv shows, and this show should be on it!

More similarities:

* Cute younger guy, also an immortal, who (out of desperation?) is often seen taking a very obvious interest in conspicuously attractive women, some of whom happen to play for a very wrong side and sometimes serve as honeytraps of different kinds and levels of danger. This also exemplifies the constant "teenager unlucky-in-love" plot device (device -- for the lack of a better word).
* A non-immortal young blonde lady (usually smart), possible love interest to the series lead. Only that the lady of this series is too smart, kinda... And too cocky for her own good. I thought that maybe she secretly longs for the series lead, but just can't have him, because of his unclear or unspecified interests.

* Additionally, the series seems to be missing a constant (personified) evil character, with its premise concentrating on a never-ending fight between the good and the evil, usually featuring an evil plot of the week by a powerful enemy of the week. -- While "Highlander" usually promises some closure by season's end or such.

I think the series is more likely to give material to any sl@sh writers that just happen to stumble over the show, despite the fact that this may sound like sacrilege to any hard-core "Immortal" fans (that is, if there are any...).

Adding to that, Steve Braun (II) (=Goodwin) has played in at least two films (one feature and one made-for-TV) with gay themes in them: the feature was "The Trip" (2000/I), a gay movie; And the made-for-TV thing was "Everybody's Doing It", with a gay theme in it. Admittedly, this might have been a coincidence.

i heard that when lorenzo lamas went for the audition for the role they asked him " what do you think of the movie and television series 'Highlander'?".. he answered.." highlander ? whats that?".. they said "YOUR HIRED!!!!"..anybody know if any of this is true or not?

Where did you read it? Do you have the URL of the source saved somewhere?

my god tell that wasnt a real question? it was a jab at a desperate actor who jumped at a role that clearly mocked a well known story,, but unlike myslef,, he at least had the nerve to do it,, i certainly wouldnt have had the guts

i agree, but this show was sort of a guilty pleasure. It doesn't take itself too seriously. It's out on DVD now.

Normally I dislike the term "rip-off" since every I feel story has it's own distinctiveness , but in this case I have to agree.

Heck, they could have at least given him a different kind of sword. I understand samurai swords are awesome, but given how much this show steals already...

So you think in season 2 if the show had one they would have introduced a organization that recorded everything the immortal did.
