So... why is this hated (curious i havent seen it)

ok so ive seen quite a few movies before and have never heard at all about this one until i went into the video store today. now because ive seen so many movies its hard to find some new ones to get and i saw this and though well its a heist film and it stars christian slater and val kilmer. i particularly like the crime genre and enjoyed seeing christian slater in broken arrow, hard rain and interview with a vampire and thought val kilmer was pretty good in heat. but i didnt get it as i thought id get it another time wen id checked the imdb rating. now i knew this wouldnt be in the top 250 but i expected over 5 out of 10. so can anyone explain wats so bad about it without being a smartass and saying its obvious. like is the plot stupid or has wholes in it or is the acting and dialogue terrible or is the whole thing just over the top.

I like to watch it, but its so cheesy!

You can tell Kilmer doesnt want to be there. Terrible green screen. Amature directing and cinimetography. It gets very cheap and they try to make it bigger than it is. The story is STV *beep* Oh and how could I forget Jose.

He sells oranges for money.

I enjoyed the film overall, but I can easily understand why it's not so well-liked. The story has almost a stream-of-consciousness quality to it. It's also fairly complicated so that you have to pay very close attention to everything, and many things won't make much sense until a bit later (often small things--like "why was that guy standing there in the middle of nowhere and Christian Slater's character didn't acknowledge him?"), so a viewer spends some time trying to figure things out that probably should have been explained better. It also has some very low-budget qualities, like the very amateurish green screen mentioned above. It occasionally feels more like a "Z movie" than the B movie that it is. But the cast is great, the story is very entertaining overall if you don't sweat some messy details, there are a few pretty well-done action scenes that I didn't expect, and it also has "black comedy" elements that you'll dig if you like black comedies at all. It's actually a bit Coen Brothers-like, but I'm hesitant to say that, because basically, it's worth a shot only as long as you make sure you go in with absolutely no expectations.

I actually gave it an 8/10. It helped that I'm a big fan of some of the cast, though, including both Christian Slater and William Forsythe, who unfortunately wasn't in it as long as I would have liked, but as someone who often functions as a character actor, that's not unusual for him.

I agree, I liked it OK, but there are some cheesy things about it. I thought Daryl Hannah acted really weird in this film and I agree, they tried to create big-budget special effects on a smaller budget and it shows. I thought the little girl who played Slater's daughter was a great actress and she looked a lot like him--so good casting call there.

They should have done a sequel to "Butt Hair of the Blind Dead".

Let it be unsaid: insignificance is the locus of true increpation.

Ok Daryl Hannah acting weird, no that's normal. She really cannot act. It is a good cheesy B-movie. The bluescreen is really bad. Car chases and speedboat made me laugh my ass off.
