The Wrestlemania of the Lower Talent

Wrestlemania marked a milestone for the lower talent in the WWF, as the main event completely sucked!

The hardy boys, edge & christian, and the dudleys made all-time history in the classical TLC match. respect!

The other matches went down pretty cool as well.

Then came the main event, supposed to be the greatest event of all time, it's the millenium for gods sake, it has to be, its going to be!.....isn't it??

For the first time ever in Wrestlemania history, the heel retained the title. Fans in the stadium threw objects in the ring out of frustration that they had been conned out of the $400 ringside seat (yes, $400) and what should have been the greatest event of all time.

Being a die hard wrestling fan, i quickly sussed why what happned happened.

The original script for this event stated Rock would beat Austin for the title, revrse of wmania15.

9 days prior to survivor series 1999 austin was rushed through hospitals and quickly pulled out of the event.

The script had to be written.

Royal Rumble, No WAy Out of that year, fine, some classic matches.

Wmania approaches, instead of it being Triple H vs The Rock whic is what it should have been, Big Show enters the picture, then one week before, Mick Foley enters, now this is what blew it all sky high.

Linda McMahon announced live that if Mick Foley won the title, a tournament would start for Backlash one month after the event, morons, they gave it away!

The script again led to last minute re-writes, something u just don't do at WMania.

There was no way Big Show would win, he's not popular enough at this time.

There was no way Mick Foley could win, they gave it away.

They didn't want Rock to win coz they had it in their heads Austin would be fit enough to attend the event (which he was no where near) and aid Rock to win, blowing the roof off sky high! Man that could have been something! I get goosebumps thinking about it!

So that left one man, and it had to be the Boss's son-in-law didn't it?? The heel, Triple H, for the first time in history of wrestling, the bad guy retained at WMania. The world's stomachs turned.

They tried to make up for it at Backlash that year, but it was no good.

Wrestlemania attracts the world, not just the WWF/WCW/ECW fans, it's the one time the world is on Vinces shoulders, and he has to produce the best thing possible, and he didn't.

I hope to god Wrestlemania XX can make up for this lousy event, and every other one the WWF has had.

I believe that Wrestlemania 17 made up for it. X-Seven was arguably one of the best WMs there ever was.

Wrestlemania 2001 was a good one, even more so when Taker beat the pile of garbage that is Triple H.
