Is there an American release or is this movie only in Germany?

reply

I think it's only in German. And, to be honest, you don't miss anything spectacular.

it definitely is....i am in the same situation as the guys in the film right now, just got my qualification for the Abitur and only have to write 3 further exams until I can leave school...i am just watching this right now and it is a great movie

I'm an American, and I thought it was great. I was able to pick it up at a flea market when I was in Berlin for 5 E. I would def suggesting having some German skills though, as there are no english subtitles. I was able to understand 85% of it with the Deutsch untertitels on, but I take German at my Uni, so I have a little background in German. I did feel it borrowed a lot from "Dazed and Confused"

I haven't seen Dazed & Confused, but I'm not so sure about the borrowing, since large parts of the story are inspired by true events. I visited the same school as the director, and although he finished it one year before I came there, I definitely recognize the teachers :)and since the big sister of one of my friends was in the same year as Marco Petry, I can also say that several characters can be traced back to his friends. With all that background, I have no real choice: I love the movie :)
