The plane crash

Before Beatrice boards the plane, they give her the itinerary which includes a flight to Brussels, then on to Lisbon and finally to Iceland. The plane that crashes is the Brussels plane, so how does Polley end up in Iceland? Do they rescue her from the sea, then take her to her final destination for medical help?

NYC to European cities often fly near Iceland. In the old days, it was not uncommon for transatlantic flights to stop in Keflavik, Iceland for fuel and quick maintenance. The old "bone shaker" prop planes needed a rest. In modern times, if there is a mid flight emergency it is nice to be near an airport. So, if the Brussels's bound flight went down mid-Atlantic it is not too much of stretch to believe Icelandic fisherman would have found her. That is if you believe one can survive a crash into the sea.
