The truth!

The truth of the matter is by any standards this is an awful film. It is NOT a film to be mentioned in the same breath as some of the classics of the thirties and forties. The acting is very bad and the script and direction equally so. The opening few scenes in the movie are literally like amateur night out.
But worst of all I would like to know who all these people are giving the film good reviews on this site? It’s unbelievable – are they friends of the Burton Sisters or the sisters themselves? If so they are ruining the reputation of the IMDb and should be reported for abuse. The last time I looked there were 94 comments – this is more than Miracle on 34th Street – do these people think we are mad? This movie was made in 2002 and has yet to get wide distribution – doesn’t that tell you something?

I'm from Buffalo and checked this board out to see if
Manna From Heaven was worth net flixing.

I can't speak to the quality of the movie as I have never seen it. I do agree that there seems to be a lot of plants on this board. Someone posted a press release.

I do disagree that this is a bad thing. Marketing is the lifeblood of business. Heck, even Frank Sinatra's manager paid young girls to scream at his early concerts.

In regards to the comments... you have to realize that the internet skews everything... Information of today's current events get so much more writers on it since now we have bloggers, podders, internet media as well as traditional print and television, and to add to television, we have 24 hour news services from CNN, FOX, CSPAN, and MSNBC.
Miracle on 34th Street came out some time ago that most people who are knowledgeable of it knew about it from before the time of the internet and IMDB. War of the Worlds from 1953 gets 115 Comments and 5,152 Total votes, while the the new take with the apostle of L Ron Hubbard takes in 2310 Comments and 49,009 Total votes.
Your arguments seems to base that time has an effect on IMDB. In that more recent movies and movies in the internet age have more comments and votes because many of us are either too young to remember or old enough to recall the movies like Miracle on 34th Street and in my example, War of the Worlds.
Anyway if you look at the cast, many of the actors are from the Great Lakes, and it is based in Buffalo. I went to school and worked two years afterwards in Buffalo, so to see a movie (Much like Bruce Almighty) that paints a positive light on Buffalo is nice. And back to the actors... Frank Gorshen... the TV Riddler! Shirley Jones of the Partridge Family. Wendy Malik! Whom going back to Jim Carrey, really imitated so well in the only good casted role of that Batman Flop (Tommy Lee Jones kicks, but that was not a good career move for him).
This movie might be a little too much like Splenda and not the real deal of a movie with a kicking cast.
I'll admit, I've netflixed this, but it currently number 372 in my queue (A lot of TV Series DVD's are before this). I'll watch this, but at the rate of my movie queue... it won't be for another 2 years if I am lucky enough to cycle 3 dvd's a week. Maybe there is too much to watch out there... or maybe I should bump it up a couple of notches.

If you want to take my advice you will take it out of your Netflix queue. I was invited to a screening here in Hollywood and when we got there we had to pay $10 when screenings are usually free. The biggest problem with the movie is that they did have good actors in it but they all lacked direction.
I am not old enough to remember Miracle on 34th Street but I have seen it on TV - as with It's a Wonderful Life.
When I got to the screening one of the sisters made an announcement and told us this was a film with old fashioned values as if to put it in the same class as the two aforementioned films. I don't particularly like those two films but I recognize they are well made - this film is not!
