Chief Evidence Episode-Better Care for Animal Victims

I was so sad and irritated that the officers had to call Animal Control to handle the critically injured dog. All police officers who are able should be required to have training on how to handle injured animals, how to begin giving some medical care to the animal until they can get to the vet. Maybe this dog could have lived and been a comforting companion to the murdered woman's mother. Also, the man/men who caused the injuries should have been charged with the dog's murder and that is exactly what it should have been called...murder.

It was only a dog. It was going to die regardless because of being shot in the face. The dog could've messed up potential evidence. The officers should have shot the dog to put it down.

The dog was lying down injured. There was no way it would have messed up potential evidence. If the dog was definitely going to die, the vet would not have tried to save his life, but would have put it down. The officers obviously believed the dog should have the chance to live. It was not "only a dog".
