Has any Forensic Files episodes changed anyone's habits?

For me, it was the episode 'Double Trouble' where a man attacked and killed a young mother as she walked home from the store late at night. She suffered a horrible death. He beat, raped, bit and sodomized her.

Until I saw this episode I had a habit of going out late at night and at 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. There is an all night deli in my neighborhood and if I ever got hungry or had any cravings I would not hesitate to go out at these times. So far, I have been lucky because I never ran into any danger, but when I saw 'Double Trouble' I now refuse to go out past 10:00.

My neighborhood is pretty safe but all it takes is 1 maniac driving around looking for a victim. I would rather stay home and go hungry than take a chance.

Yep. I take the time to double check the doors are locked at night.

Absolutely! In the episode titled "Insulated Evidence," the killer gained access by crawling in the attic to get to another apartment. Since that time I have blocked that entrance.
Sadly, another episode titled "Fate Date" taught me the dangers of being a good Samaritan. Nowadays, I call 911 to help but I don't get as involved as I might have before.
It's so sad people don't know if it's safe to help others out anymore :(

I agree, I recently watched the "Insulated Evidence" episode, and that kind of surprised the hell out of me that that was even possible! I've never lived in an apartment, so I don't know how that setup works. Definitely good to know though!

And I also agree with you on your second part. I don't remember "Fate Date" off the top of my head, or I maybe haven't seen it yet, but my first instinct would always be to help someone that's in danger and/or wounded. But, sadly, some people apparently like to use that as a ruse to hurt people, and I hate that so much :(

You could read this thread and take it the opposite of what it was intended.. as in has anyone changed their habits when they kill someone bc of the show, lol. And I am sure the answer is yes.

I also don't drink green Gatorade anymore bc of antifreeze poisoning lol. But then again, using antifreeze is such a 1989 thing to do lmao. I'm surprised some brand like PEAK didn't advertise it something like this " not only will it protect your engine, but the PEAK brand is used by more spouses trying to kill their partner than any other brand. We make the taste truly tasteless and oderless"

Absolutely!

I make sure to trade-in my red station wagon and remove the trilobal carpet after I've dumped a corpse.

Oh and not to smoke near the crime scene, never go barefoot, don't bite the victims, avoid any flora, change the tires, burn all my clothing inc shoes.

Boy the list goes on, but I'm much more thorough now thanks to the excellent tips provided by this series.

Hilarious! This show is old but a cell phone is how they track all murderers now. If your murder was spur of the moment you’re triangulated to the crime scene.
