Tried moving to Mia's Apartment- TOO EXPENSIVE!!!

I am always mocked by my friends when they ask what my favorite movie is, and I mention this one. It's not even a guilty pleasure- it's THE best female driven film I've ever seen. I was obsessed with it when it released in theaters (to my friends- and family's annoyance) and I wanted to be just like Mia in a way. A nobody who suddenly discovers they're actually royalty!

After graduating college, I decided I wanted to make it big like the Mia character- and the best way to do this was to move to San Francisco and be an artist. Much to my shock (and embarrassment), when the realtor asked where I wanted to live- I said "the same apartment Anne Hathaway lived in Princess Diaries." Not only did the realtor laugh her behind off, she told me the rental prices for anything even IN that area- and they were disgusting! I was always under the impression that Mia was mocked at school because she was socially awkward - and poor. So I figured the rent would be decent for someone of my means. I was dead wrong. Apparently it's one of the most expensive areas in California, and also the United States. Boy did the filmmakers pull the wool over my eyes!

I now am stuck living somewhere else- my parents place, until I can find an apartment the fraction of what Mia's cost. And my parents are not happy at all. They also don't live in California- but the boring midwest of Ohio.

It's common knowledge San Francisco - even just the Bay Area - is extremely expensive. In fact, the most expensive city in the US and one of the most expensive in the world. How you did not know that is...interesting.
