Connection to Ozu

Are the trains in the film, for example in 1 scene he pulls away in his car and we glimpse a train rushing through the background, inspired from Ozu's use of trains? Obviously Ozu wouldn't include suicide in his film like this one did, but didn't he deal with similar themes?
