THIS IS A GAY MOVIE, NOT A POETRY MOVIE

I must warn you that the main character in this movie is more homosexual than a poet. (Not saying it's wrong of course.) I agree with an opinion that it's almost impossible to show creation of a poetry or literature but it WASN'T the main goal of creators whatsoever.
More, the main character in this movie is devoid of love, he talks and thinks about males' bodies, it's an essential part of this biography, so it is more a gay movie than a movie about poetry like they try to advertise it.

No, it is not a gay movie. It is a movie about freedom.

reply

It is, so shut up.

reply

Well, I happen to be from Cuba, so I am more qualified to qualify the movie than you. Unless you are gay, of course.

This movie could have emphasized the political aspects of Castro's oppression more thoroughly than it did. I'm not minimizing how gay Cubans were treated. But to most viewers, the nature of Castro's regime is almost an afterthought in this film. Lots of people paid the price if they crossed his path.
