Should be........

On that "Brillant but Cancelled" show (it was on trio but we don't get it on satelite anymore), we waited in my house for this show, boo to cbs for canceling it, every show they have on TV the networks seem to cancel.....

This is a PERFECT example of great TV screwed up. The premise was great -- attractive woman KNOWS she is attractive, wants to show she is capable of more via higher education. Ethnic humor but none stereotypical; unbeliebavly good ensemble playing in which Matt Dillon's underutilized brother Dylan was superb. Gor some reason the ravishing Ellen Burstyn permitted them to make her look frumpy season 1; that was corrected. Good female bonding -- Debi Mazar was, as always, delicious. First season; believable not-working out-well boyfriend, but great chemistry, and the brilliantly acerbic Peter Firth, Britain's answer to Victor Garber at his comic best, first underused and then used WRONG.
More tragically, the show led into the sublime forgotten "Cupid" with Jeremy Piven, one of the quirkiesy, most intelligent series ever to grace a Saturday night 9 00 spot. Again, writing, chemistry -- perfect for us educated, successful retailers who are too TIRED to schlep out, and bored with reading. This is a Double Sin. The wasteland grows vaster... My now tragically departed partner of 35 years adored these shows; to see a really smart guy laugh at something well written and acted was itself a pleasure. Now we have, erm, "Reba"? and Law and Order franchises that are stale as 90's nacho, except for SVU, which is getting perverse when we need it most...
When we lived in London, I went to the theatre twice a week. It was expensive, but the soul needs feeding too. Try doing that in Suburban Boston....
