The Song from the Opening Credits (First Season)

Does anyone know the name of the italian music that plays in the intro of the first season?

reply

its an italian folk (or even classical ?!) tune called "tarantella"

and if memory serves me Paul Sorvino..(who played the father) sang the opening theme season #1..then the star Heather Page Kent sang an original sone for season #2

I've always liked that version or tarantella, and found the singer online. I wrote to him asking if he had it as a digital file, and he wrote back saying he didn't. He was just asked to sing it and was never given a copy.
I don't remember his name, but he was not anyone on the show. He was a professional singer, and may have been a friend of the producer or something.

fal42 was close. "Tarentela" is a traditional Italian musical form. It is said to go back to the days when it was thought that a particular combination of sound, rhythm and melody could ease the pain of a victim suffering from a spider bite — from a tarantula, of course; hence the name.

The first season theme song is a Tarentela. And a recent one at that, since it has words in modern Italian. (One of the older ones in my collection is dated about 1620.) Hey, maybe the music is old and the words are new, I think I've heard two or three songs to that tune.

Please let me know if you find a recording of it — or a text copy of the lyrics.

Marco Marinangeli is the singer. He is the guy I wrote to a few years ago. I recently taped the opening, and made an MP3 of the song.
If anyone wants it, send an email to jondoe888 gmail com
I sent Marco a copy today. I also found out why the song changed for the 2nd season. I assumed the stars wanted their faces in the opening, but didn't know that Heather PK wrote the new song. I liked the original opening better - a the song and illustration were a lot more fun. But understand the change.

I will also post it on youtube, one of these days.
