Odd thing about DVD set

Just a quick note to point an odd thing on the DVD set, which I received today: The opening theme song is only on episode #1. Episodes 2-16 do not have the opening theme/credits. Anybody know why? I'm guessing maybe this was a cost-cutting measure, so they don't have to pay royalties on the song 17 times - just once. It's a bit of a shame, though, since the high energy opening was fun and puts you in the mood to watch the show.

It is kind off a shame but ah well, it's just so awesome this is finially on dvd. I'm waiting for mine to arrive, have you checked out the special features?

reply

What are the special features, please?

There are four commentary tracks with Darren Star and Robin Schiff (she's on 3 of the 4 tracks) and an interview with Darren about the show itself that is slightly better than EPK fluff, but not all that informative. The commentary tracks are really good (and a big step up from his 90210 commentary tracks - which are kind of stilted). All 17 episodes are spread across two discs.

reply

The first episode on the second disc has the theme song as well.

reply

Too bad none of the main casts offers their own commentary.

a lot of tv shows did that with the opening credits such as desperate housewives. i personally think it's just cause if you're using the play all option most people just fastforward past the theme song anyways?

from The ULTIMATE MOVIE BUFF!

Basically musicians pretty much make their money through song licensing now so yeah it would have been costly to use.
