Why do some of you like Monica?

I'm not being sarcastic either. Seriously asking. I just never saw any likeable qualities about her (well maybe once or twice) but not enough for me to "like" her and to top it off the writers tried to bring her into the fold right after Toni left. Like what the hell? Nothing against the actress of course, but the character was pretty annoying.

Obviously. I just didn't like the CHARACTER, as I said before. I never claimed it was Keesha Sharp's fault or that she "wrote the script". I even said nothing against the actress herself. Ppl get sarcastic for no damn reason on this board.

I only started to like her when she at least tried, after joan chin checked her and asked her why is so stuck up, it turned into a joke and they laughed. At that point Monica realized that no one around William's circle acts like that. I don't know if she could have been cool with Toni though lol

I didn't like her at first, but when she came back and became friends with Joan I started to like her then. Also after that she became friends with Maya and Lynn and I liked seeing the 4 of them together.

Monica was basically a Toni Childs nnumber 2

reply

She was Toni without the manufactured drama.

Or basically she was a better Toni than Toni.

reply

I liked the original Monica more because I found her to be intriguing, though cutthroat. The new Monica, as a replacement for Toni never worked for me. You can't out Toni, Toni. Plus, Monica didn't have the same chemistry, nor history with the girls.

reply

I agree with you, she's not as worse as Yvonne.

reply

I liked Monica even before she "replaced" Toni. I remember even thinking, she'd make a good cast regular...which she eventually became. As someone else said, good acting always wins out.

reply

I don't see Monica as a replacement for Toni because she was an established character.

reply

She's not really harsh as Yvonne.

reply

I liked monica and thought she was different than toni.

In the early days Monica was intended to be the villain, so if you disliked her that's a compliment to both the writers and to Keesha Sharp.

That she was able to successfully navigate that character into becoming one of the Girlfriends is another compliment to both.
