DVD Release non-update

I attended a screening of Rob Burnett's new movie The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2452386/) last night at Sundance Film Festival. The movie was titled The Fundamentals of Caring at the festival... not sure what it will be released as, but it was hilarious and touching. Rob was there for a fantastic Q&A after the film and even introduced his "great friend" Tom Cavanagh who was in the audience and had flown in specifically for that screening. It was great to find out that they remain close so many years after their show finished up.

Rob was chatting with the crowd afterward and I asked him if there was any news on a release of some kind for Ed. He said he still gets asked about it all the time, so it's obvious there is plenty of demand, but that since ownership of the show is divided between the two studios involved that it is still a mess. So there's that, unfortunately.

I was so impressed with Rob's willingness to talk to the fans even as he was in a rush to get to the airport, and I wish him all the best in the rest of his career.

Thanks for the "update". It's a crime that this show isn't out on dvd or at least streaming on Netflix.

Nobody wins by not settling, but when it comes to greed, sometimes the parties involved would rather loose money than let other parties have a single penny.

Fans turn to b-i-t t-o-r-r-e-n-t to get poor quality versions because they can't buy a single episode at any price.

Here is hoping better versions show up now it's aired in HD on UP. Bleeped language aside, it's better than nothing.

Seriously. What math class did they learn that 100% of $0 is better than 50% of more than $0?

Ed was one of my all time favorite shows. Of course, not having seen it in years it may not have the same impact as then. Regardless, I have been waiting impatiently all these years for a DVD/BluRay release. It's incredible how selfish some people can be.

It was just on Up.

it doesn't do any good to carp but I'm going to anyway.

GAWD I loved that show (Ed).

Some of you may recall that HBO pulled the same stunt with Larry Sanders. We waited YEARS for that to come out on DVD. I couldn't figure out their reasoning. My best guess is they thought it would cannibalize viewer interest from syndication. WRONG. It would add to, not subtract. Now they've gone to the other extreme and flooded the market. Now you can't give it away. Pinhead corp. weasels will always make the wrong decision.

I'm gonna send a fan mail to Letterman. I'm sure that reading fan mail is last on his list of things to spend time on. Even Obama reads 5 letters per week so the odds are against me, it's not impossible. Dave has the juice to make the Ed DVD happen.
