F.A.N.S. FORGET AUDIENCES NEEDS SWIFTLY

If there was ever more proof of the unbridled contempt CSI producers had for the fans, it's this. I am a laggard when it comes to BREAKING BAD. Starting this weekend I plan to bingewatch the DVD of all 6 seasons my mom left behind. I read the backs of the sets to see on average 10 hours of content. Not a question that a fan had was left unanswered. Vince Gilligan, unlike Anthony Zuiker, actually cares about his fans, he knows our time & money made him a rich man. Also, the commentary is in far better proportion. 0f the 62 episodes the show produced, 36 have commentary. 0ver half, meanwhile CSI:NEW YORK phoned it in with 19 episodes with commentary for a show that churned out 198. How come Team Zuiker screwed us at every single turn? How come across the board with all 4 shows did we NEVER get a quality product? This is a franchise that consistently did next to nothing to take viewers inside the inner workings of the shows. FIREFLY which barely had a season with only 14 episodes offered Browncoats everything there was and was not under the sun in terms of content. Because Joss Whedon, like Gilligan and unlike Zuiker, gives a shyt. 0n the Buffyverse, nearly every important actor is interviewed, CSI never interviewed Taylor Nichols, Jessica Collins, Live Schreiber, Timothy Carhartt, Teal Redmann, Brigid Brannagh, Larry Holden, Eric Roberts. What did we do to deserve such inferior home media?

If you really need at least 1 example of how we, the fans, got truly f\/cked every release. Season 1 on DVD, no commentary even though the first 3 seasons of THE SIMPSONS were released before but had commentary on every episode. Now take a look at Season 1 on Blu-Ray and the lack of anything on BLOOD DROPS, the episode that put CSI on the map. The CSI directorial debut of Kenneth Fink, the first writing from technical advisor Elizabeth Devine, the first collaboration between Devine & Ann Donahue, the introductions of both Sherriff Brian Mobley & Conrad Ecklie, CSI's first full-plot episode and a scene-stealing performance by a then 6 year old Dakota Fanning.

Let us say for argument's sake little Dakota was too young to contribute commentary because of her age or because in 2003 when the DVD was ready for sale, she was only a 9 year old child actor. By 2009 when the Blu-Ray came out, she was nearly a 15 year old teenager and had arrived as an A-List star having worked with Michelle Pfieffer & Sean Penn in I AM SAM, worked with Denzel Washington and for Tony Scott in MAN ON FIRE and worked with Tom Cruise & Tim Robbins in WAR OF THE WORLDS. CSI actually chose to not play on her notoriety.

Had they even bothered to make the Blu-Ray truly better than the DVD, they would have called in Devine, Donahue, Fanning, Fink, JorJa Fox, William Peterson, Glenn Morshower, Marc Vann, Timothy Carhartt(for the development of Eddie Willows). You look at any show produced by Joss Whedon and you're gonna get interviews from nearly every key performer. When the Blu-Ray was released, I thought FINALLY they're gonna have an interview with and a commentary from Matt 0'Toole who played Paul Milander but just like the DVD, they f\/cked it all up. No CSI producer can look any fan in the face and say that every season on DVD or Blu-Ray was a consistent quality release. Season 3 ended & Season 4 began with Catherine's world upended when she learned Sam Braun was her biological father and they never thought to get commentary form Marg Helgenberger & Scott Wilson on any key episodes like INSIDE THE BOX, ASSUME NOTHING, JACKPOT & NO MORE BETS? How about on the Blu-Ray an interview with Madison McReynolds to catch us up with what she was up to and why she retired from the role of Lindsay Willows?

Also, instead of adding content that was actually related to the show, anytime you wanna watch an episode on Disc 1, you're forced, FORCED to watch a promo for the STAR TREK Blu-Ray and not a damn thing you can do about it. They put that on and took away the Previously on CSI from COOL CHANGE and CRATE & BURIAL. 0nly time in my life that I saw the same show on DVD rereleased on Blu-Ray with LESS content than on the original DVD. They even left out, the video of THE WHO doing the theme song WHO ARE YOU? edited with clips mainly of Season 1 and a little Season 2. Name me another TV show where everything from the DVD wasn't ported over to the Blu-Ray. We are the LEAST SERVED fanbase in television history. You get more content on FIREFLY, why? Because that was a Joss Whedon show and Joss Whedon knows better than take a giant shyt on his fans, because we make him his money.

We shall see Kiki, my friend. There have been petitions created to send a message to these corporate a$$holes. 0n the subject at hand, am I wrong? Have I not clearly demonstrated the overwhelming f\/ck you Team Zuiker shouted at us? Here's a storyline never touched upon, Catherine learning Sam Braun was her biological father. No interviews with Scott Wilson, no commentaries from Wilson and Marg Helgenberger on the key episodes dealing with that arc, INSIDE THE BOX(Season 3 finale), from Season 4-ASSUME NOTHING(Season Premiere), JACKPOT and NO MORE BETS, GRAVE DANGER(Season 5 finale), KISS KISS, BYE BYE(Season 6) & BUILT TO KILL(Season 7 premiere where Braun was murdered in front of her).

When Season 1 was put on DVD, not a word about the relationship between Nick Stokes & Kristy Hopkins, but nothing would be a bigger SCREW YOU to the fans than that fraud of Blu-Ray, the series premiere, I-15 MURDERS & BOOM when Kristy was murdered and Nick was a suspect. Where were the interviews/commentaries with & from George Eads & Krista Allen? So much of Nick's character growth came from that storyline and they didn't do dick to cover it.

I know Kiki your opinion of Ryan Murphy is none too high, but POPULAR accomplished what CSI didn't, commentary on episodes in every ear the show was on the air, because both sides of 2008(latter half of Season 8 & former half of Season 9) is completely commentary free and 2008 would have been commentary free for the franchise at large because you had nothing from CSI:NEW YORK. 0nly because of RAISING CANE(Season 6) & WRECKING CREW(Season 7) of CSI:MIAMI does 2008 have anything on the board. But POPULAR has commentary on episodes from 1999, 2000 & 2001 and both presidents in office, Clinton & Bush 43.

Then there is Joss Whedon where on the BUFFY DVD sets, you have interviews with Eliza Dushku, Juliet Landau & Julie Benz, but for Season 7 of this show, not a goddamn word from Jessica Collins who played Natalie Davis. No interviews, no commentaries. Kiki, can you argue with my statement that we are the least served fanbase in television history? They never even gave us a look into their ripped from the headlines episodes-UNFRIENDLY SKIES(S1), ANATOMY OF A LYE(S2), CRASH & BURN(S3), I LIKE TO WATCH(S6) to name just a few. Both BUFFY & ANGEL offer their fans a wealth, a treasure trove of content.

Here's another show starring CSI recurring actor Aldis Hodge, LEVERAGE. All 77 episodes of LEVERAGE have commentary. CSI:NEW YORK aired 198 episodes but only 19 have commentary. Not a single CSI series has commentary in health proportion to number of episodes aired. BREAKING BAD does, 62 episodes, 36 have commentary and unlike all the CSI shows, not a single season of BREAKING BAD is missing content related to the making of their seasons. Season 4 of CSI outside of the nominal amount of commentary only put the spotlight on SUCKERS, which is what we are for believing MAYBE we would get a quality product.
