Mostly Martha music

Does anyone have a list of the music used in this film? I am especially interested in the name/performer of the song that was often repeated. It was in Italian with a short English refrain. Thanks.

reply

I don't know about the rest of the music, but the song you're looking for is "Via Con Me" by Paolo Conte. It's also on the French Kiss soundtrack, which has some other great songs like "La Vie en Rose" by Louis Armstrong and "I Love Paris" by Ella Fitzgerald.

reply

Thanks a million for your response. I will check out the French Kiss soundtrack. There doesn't appear to be a soundtrack available for Mostly Martha.

reply

Does anyone know why there is no soundtrack? I would get it in a second and it seems odd that a film that is even vaguely successful doesn't have a released soundtrack, especially with such varied and recognizable music.

Hi
Years later I am still looking for the mostly martha soundtrack??? Any luck?

The song Via con Me from Mostly martha. Is it sung by Maurice Chevalier or am I going back too far. I loved the Music from the film and especially this song

reply

The original album is "Paris Milonga" by Paolo Conte. "Via con Me" it's just one of the very good song included in this Conte's Masterpiece.

That's an amazing song.

Why does he say, "Chips, chips" in English?
Is he referring to potato chips (i.e. fries) or is it the name of the person he's singing to?

Whatever, I love it! (And the movie.)

reply

After looking around a few websites about Conte I've decided that "chips, chips" might not 'mean' anything much at all: it might just be a playful use of words for no particular reason. Maybe I was being too literal in asking the question.

Thanks for knowing the name of the song "Via con Me" . I had been looking for it, and had (too quickly) given up. I was at the movies today w/ my kids and I heard the same song being used to hawk Coca Cola...at least it reminded me how much I liked the song.

One of the main songs played throughout the film is "Country," a piece by legendary pianist Keith Jarrett.

Thanks for this information (I love the internet, and its changes to get information)

Unfortunately it is not available in a CD package on any of the popular websites!

If you click on the "Official" Mostly Martha Website at:
http://www.bellamartha.de/
Then click on the "musik" button and then you will get a full listing in German of the movie sound track; the titles are in English.

The most recognizable song is "Via Con Me" by Paolo Conte which was also featured in French Kiss and Life Is Beautiful. You can hear clips of the song at various Web sites but not the song in its entirety. If you search for the song title on Google or one of the major search engines you will come up with numerous sites containing the lyrics.

Other songs on the movie soundtrack were:

Performed by Keith Jarrett
Country; Bregenz, Part I; Tokyo, Encore; U Dance; Never Let Me Go

Performed by Louis Prima:
Angelina - Zoom Zoom

Performed by Peter Blegvad:
Special Delivery

Performed by David Darling:
Darkwood VII: New Morning

Performed by Lucio Dalla:
Attenti Al Lupo

Performed by Alexander Malter:
Fur Alina

and a couple of rather old chestnuts performed by Dean Martin.

The music in the film is listed at the end of the dvd.
I was really blown away by the surprise that a lot of
it is Keith Jarrett. His "Never Let Me Go" is classic!

reply

I don't read German, but I COULD tell from the credits that the music supervisor for the film was Manfred Eicher. He is the owner of the ECM jazz record label and longtime producer (and friend ) of Keith Jarret.

I have searched for a soundtrack online and in Barnes and Noble, Best Buy, etc.
if anyone knows whether a soundtrack exists, I would be very interested, as well.

I've been trying to figure out who's done the instrumental jazz music with saxophone as the main thing. I'm not familiar with Keith Jarrett's all production but to me it sounds as if he is not the guy I'm looking for here.

The credits say that there are three tunes by Steven Reich and they are performed by Mr's Segal, Reich, Gunkel and Fonfara. Now, doing a search with those names produces almost nothing. Does anybody know if these tunes "Let's do it in a-flat", "How deep is the blues" and "Too much of your licks" would fit in my description? And better yet, have the guys ever made a record together? Or are they available anywhere on any recording?

A
