The Food

I loved all the food and cooking.. and the music. It always puts a smile on my face when I see movies that have great cooking in them. I can strongly recommend "Big Night" (1996) for all of you other foodloving filmnuts. (the music is great in Big Night, too..)

It's not Babetes's Feast but I liked.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try to find it somewhere... :-)

Babette's Feast is a fun Danish film; you'd like it as much as this unless you get upset with mild humor directed toward puritanical protestants.

Couldn't agree more: "Big Night" is a great one, including the music. I think it did quite a bit to revive interest in Louis Prima. As for other "food films" to taste, how about "Eat Drink Man Woman" and "Tortilla Soup"? Yumm!

You took the words right out of my mouth. Big Night is one of the most under-appreciated films I can think of. Eat Drink Man Woman is absolutely fantastic as well. I've never seen it, but imdb lists Tortilla Soup as being a re-make of Eat Drink Man Woman.

Also don't miss this one:

Awesome pastries and desserts!

I watched this over dinner, and this was the perfect accompaniment. I was reminded of "Big Night" with the character of Mario and the great '50s Italian music.
