Richard Kelly - Great effort but where did he go? Is this all he has in him?

The director of this film seemed to be on his way to greatness. The first 10 minutes are stunning and beautiful but the rest of the film lacks any style. This guy finished USC film school in 1997. What has he been doing since then? It is now 2019 and he does not have any credits in the last 9-10 years. How is he making a living? I think Donnie Darko may be his Citizen Kane. The best thing he will ever do. I hope not but it seems like he is like Orson Welles. He started at the top and worked his way down.

even he doesn't get DD. by chance he just hit nerve and created a cult classic.

And he's no Orson Welles. He did a lot more than Citizen Kane.

I was only saying that this guy had potential to be like Orson Welles who was a monumental talent. I was just comparing the two directors because their first attempt was pretty strong.

He wrote a script that made the rounds. Drew Barrymore helped him out.

There's a saying in Hollywood "you're as good as your last hit". All of his post-DD movies bombed at the b.o.
