people dont understand

I am sick and tired of people trying to compare films to books.
I am sick and tired of people complaining about innacuracies and differences.

what people dont understand is that its really difficult to put in every little detail into a movie... if you put every plot point into the film the movie will be to long and maybe a bit boring. Stuff that seems vivid and interesting in a book might suck when its on screen because you no longer have intricate and interesting language to protray it, just one visual. Also, if you put every plot point in a film then sure people won't complain that it's inacurate, but also its boring and no longer has any twists, it's predictable.

people have to learn that movies are NEVER going to be based completely and soley on a book. You have to learn to watch the movie for what it is and not for being a copy of a book. Sit back and enjoy the film. But please, I beg you, don't sit back with the book and try to compare the too because movies are never the same and they dont intend to be the same.

One reason to see this film and its Xin Xin Xiong amazing choreography - he is a regular collaborator of Tsui Hark and can be seem as 'Iron Foot' in the Jet Li/Tsui Hark film 'Once Upon a Time in China 3'...he is absolutely awesome! He is also in the Van Damme film Double Team and fights Van Damme with a flick-knife which he holds BETWEEN HIS TOES!!! madness...!

Watch Seven Swords if you have the chance he contributed alot of talent towards the choreography in that film too!

my problem with the movie was the obviously AMERICAN lead actor

sorry, even before he spoke--he looked like he should in a Jesse James or Billy the Kid movie

that is where it fall flate

You mean Tim Roth, the British actor, is American?

reply

Justin Chambers is American and a Calvin Klein model.

It was a fun movie. Isn't that what is important. I know it wasn't the "real" story. But its a good action flick. I really liked it. But, I have really liked most of the versions I've seen.

"my problem with the movie was the obviously AMERICAN lead actor"

It's a French novel set in France with French characters ...so American or English actors are both "not enough French" for the part!

The problem that I have with casting, aside from the fact that I can't stand Tim Roth, is how could a blue eyed child grow up to be a brown eyed adult (D'Artagnan)!!!

i dont care about the differences between book and movie. this movie just sucked, sucky screenplay, acting that made me cringe, and really stupid fight sequences that were very poorly directed. a blind monkey couldve done better camera placement and shot scales. it was so bad that i actually felt really bad for all the people who made it.

LOL oh yeah I'm going to give respect for anyone that uses adjutives like sucky>>
Sounds like you have just enough brain cells to enjoy Rin n stimpy / Beavis n Butthead or even Sponge Bob Square Phag

Based on that gibberish you just wrote, you should call no other than yourself stupid

It's true that books often don't translate well into movies. Dumas's volumes of the Musketeers are so thick, to do them justice, it really needs to be a televised mini-series, like the BBC did way back in the sixties with Jeremy Brett as D'Artagnan. BUT not everything in the novel(s) needs to be shown onscreen.
HOWEVER....people flock to Musketeers movies because of the THREE Musketeers, and the brotherhood/adventure that the original story was about. To make a movie about mainly D'Artagnan, and ONLY D'Artagnan, is just a fail.
He's the least interesting of the four main characters, and just doesn't have the charisma to carry a story only about him. But then, I don't know that I'd want to watch a movie centered around any of the four, without the other three there to balance him out.
It was a nice try, but the movie just fell flat on all counts, except the wonderful casting of Aramis/Porthos. They are the only reason to watch this movie. :)
