The daughter (question/spoiler)

At the end, Vronsky says that Karenin takes Anna's daughter, and I was just wondering what would technically become of her? I assumed that Karenin was going to raise her, but wouldn't everyone in good society know that she was not his? Or didn't it matter?

Everyone would suspect it was not his daughter, yes, due to his wife's infidelity and estrangement from him, however, Karenin is all about DUTY. That is his underlining, driving force and pretty much dictates all his actions throughout the movie (and the novel). It is his duty to raise her child, because the child bears his name. Since he had also grown fond of the child, I have no doubt that he saw to it she was well provided for.
