Good Idea Bad Execution

The idea was great but I found myself getting bored and also I thought the whole romance thing was unneccessary and unbelievable.

The problem I see in this film is that it's for once giving away too much gags that could have worked. And - and that is even more important in my book - James Nesbitt is a cool guy, but uncharismatic compared to Christopher Plummer and also to Tim Spall and Bill Nighy. The characters of the latter two were more intense, had more depth, seemed more human. So most people I know had a hard time caring for James' character, when supporting characters seemed to be way more touching and interesting.

Well I remember this scene when James Nesbitt and Bill Nighy are in an anger management class and there are 2 inmates who have participated in the class for some time and they have learnt to use the "standard" phrasing. So yousee abully and a smalltime crook and they are like "I'm trying to appreciate your point of view Lenny" "I think we must try to find alternate ways of communication Joe" and you can see they are tight and may jump on each other any secind now but they don't.
And the Jimi and Billy try and they end up swearing at each other.
Have you noticed the scene?

I thought the idea was brilliant but a clunky script and bad casting in terms of the two leads who have little or no chemistry make sure that this film is awful. The only thing that saves this film from sinking without trace is because of the great supporting cast including Christopher Plummer, Timothy Spall, Bill Nighy and Celia Imrie.
