Was it believable that Laura Linney would fall for Maze?

Hardly.
No woman who looks like Laura Linney is going to give up a
doctor and go with a broke artist with tourette's syndrome
that is all screwed up and cannot go anywhere without making
a huge embarassing scene. This was an interesting but
irrelevant movie because it was pure fantasy. Not that I
would not like it to be true ... maybe there is still hope
I can get one of the most beautiful women in the movies,
cause I don't even have tourette's!

It's absolutely believable. Women want to be adored, taken care of, and put on a pedestal. Lyle did this for her. They connected and understood one another. An emotional connection comes first with women. As far as the Tourette's, everyone brings something into a relationship that must be dealt with. She was so comfortable around Lyle that she "hardly noticed" his tics (as she told him in one scene). She loved being with him and loved the way he was with her. Mike could not provide the intimacy she was searching for. Lyle did and the Tourette's did not get in the way of this.

Many women would except much more than Tourette to get a man with that qualities Lyle has! I wouldn't have to think about it (if such a guy WOULD exist in reality)! If you want to show men, what most of the women really want, let them learn from Lyle! That's the reason, why most of the men that I know, don't like the movie! :)

Actually, it's quite believable and perhaps not as outside the realm of possibility as you imagine.

Extreme creativity and intelligence, along with passion and compassion, is profoundly attractive.

I just wish they would have made Rob Morrows character a little attractive. In real life it's possible for him and her to get together. But just as a movie viewer it would have been nice to have Rob look somewhat decent, so I wouldn't be waiting for Craig to pop up again.

I find it hard to believe the heavenly vision that is Laura Liney could ever discover love among us simple mortals. Linney: to see her is to love her, to hear her is to want to see her, to see her and hear here at the same time is like crapping out a rainbow of ethereal love that wraps you in a cocoon of wonder and joy. A series of Haiku will soon be self published by myself concerning this very topic: The Heavenly Wonder of Linney.

Since science does not understand human behavior, no one really knows the mechanics
of love, do they. But, we can be sure that it is some indicator of mating success inbred
into us. I think we humans have confused the hell out of ourselves with all these layers
of BS to make us look complicated and like we can live up to the storybook idea that
people are created in God's image, but I think it is more likely that just like everything
else, we do what we do for clear materialistic reasons. Not to say those reason cannot
be influenced by ideas and hopes, but in the long term I do not think Laura Linney
would be happy with Maze. It was just my opinion, or guess since both are movie
characters.

I don't think you are looking at people realistically. This guy has Tourette's but everyone has something. Usually something unattractive. And it isn't just the beautiful people who get to have love in their life. If that were the case, there'd be like two people together and everyone else would be alone. You're talking about Laura Linney like if she is physically beautiful, she must not have any substance or any flaws of her own. Rob Morrow was pretty hot in this movie, imo. I thought his ticks were cute but that wasn't the only thing about him. He had depth, passion, talent, intelligence and heart. Why wouldn't she want to be with him? I mean, that hooking up with someone because of the way they look or how much money or status they have works when you're like 20. It doesn't work when you're 35. You start searching for more meaning.

Umm yeah it is totally believable! Jeez do you think all women are so shallow? I dated a guy who had cerebral palsy. If that person is a great guy and treats you great, then why wouldnt women date a guy like that?? That is ridiculous to think otherwise.

Start jerking around and swearing in public like a retard and get back to me.

reply

Yup. Apparently, you still don't get it. Plus, the fact that you use the word retard to describe a great artist with a disability explains your trouble with women:]

You must also have hallucinations because you hallucinated "explains your trouble with women:]"
If you have so many women why do you spend so much time trolling the internet? Gay?

reply

Hahahhhahhahh!! WTF does being gay have to do with responding to inane IMDb posts??? I must have struck a nerve. I give up.

The OP should be ashamed! Tourettes is no reason not to date a person. If someone is very sweet and treats a woman well like Lyle Maze did then Tourettes dosen't even matter. I'm dating a guy with some disabilities and I am absolutely in love with him, disabilities doesn't worsen a relationship, it makes it more interesting and I mean that in a good way.

Yes she would pick him. He is way better than looking than Craig Schaffer. Secondly, the rob morriw character really loved her. The doctor was in love with himself.

1. He's either not broke or won't be long. He's already famous.
