I saw about three seconds of this movie in passing once and hated it. I LOVE the book, however. I remember reading on one of these message boards that the ending to the movie is different. Can someone tell me how it ends? I know in the book Maniac just goes to live with the Beales and it kind of leaves it at that.
shareIt ends with Maniac and Amanda having a kid together. I agree the book is better, but at least the movie was fun and fresh. I must say that it was head and shoulders above many of the kids book to movie examples that are out there.
shareA baby? I don't remember that. I have'nt seen it since it was on Nick, so I may be wrong. I remember the ending shows Maniac and Amanda are holding hands in the park. Then a shooting star flies by and the ground just sticks up, like the grabiod from Tremors(1990)(Click on the link in my signature if you don't know what I'm talking about). Some guy pops up from behind the bench (Grayson?) and yells "WHOA!!" Then Maniac and Amanda walk away.

The "magic" line separating the town "magically" disappears. Then Maniac and Amanda go home. Then it goes into the future, and Amanda is telling these kids about Maniac. She says they had a daughter and a son, who hits a stopball, then the movie ends.
