Shown on BET every now'n then...

BET shows this movie very often. It came on tv 2day. I really like it too. The music used in the movie esp. during the scenes where they "lift" jewely & clothin' are excellent picks--u'd think is it hip hop?--nope, CLASSICAL music. U gotta see the movie 2 see 4 yourself. I like the sorda instrumental song at the end of the movie..wish I knew the name of it.

yup...Baby Boy and Hairshow 2 of my favorite movies that are starting to wear me out...and I have them on DVD so those are 2 movies I don't need to see every night!!! DAMN...I wish I had have wn earlier...I never knew they played it on BET...it doesn't really sound like a BET movie...well not ghetto enough to be put on BET.

Bonita_AppleBum

reply

You know that last time I can recall BET not repeating something was I think it was the past Sunday BET showed a movie called 'Light It Up'..Usher, Fredro Starr, etc. was in that movie..wasn't bad at all.

It was something different..not repetitive.

I have that movie on DVD...it's good. They haven't shown that Eva Pigford and Tec Money movie again either.

What movie is that from?

"It's the talk of tounge" - Color Shock

reply

I don't really know cuz I wasn't really watching it...but Eva had a mad attitude problem and Tec was trying to bring her to god...I think he was a minister or something I don't really remember but it looked stupid. I'll get back to u cuz I have to look the movie up fist.

Oh ok, thanx for the info.

It's called "The Walk"

but anyways BET played a movies friday night called "Motives" have u seen it?? it was pretty good with Vivica, Shemar, Golden, Joe Torry...I hope they don't play it out!!

Bonita_AppleBum

reply

It's called "The Walk"

You know what my first thought was when I seen that?..it made think about that song by The Time called "The Walk"--lol.

As for "Motives" I haven't seen it, but I seen it advertised a lot last week. I read the guide and the story plot seem pretty good..but I just didn't watch it..there's another movie BET was advertising today called "The Civil Brand"--think that's the title. Lisa Raye, Da Brat, etc. are in that movie.

"It's the talk of tounge" - Color Shock

reply

yea "Civil Brand" I have that on DVD...it's good movie but i'll never watch it again. I hate movie where people are in prison and shyt. Have u seen "Redemption??" I haven't just becuz of the plot and setting...stuff like that gives me the chills. I probably will watch it though since I do have the DVD and everyone keeps telling me "u better watch it" so what the hell!! anyways yea u should make sure u see "Civil Brand" on friday it's good I can't even lie...lots of beautiful faces in it.

But back to the orignal topic...I hope the show LIFT soon...LOL!!! We done went through like 3 or 4 other movies on the LIFT board!!!

Have a good day.

Bonita_AppleBum

reply

I'll make sure to check the movie out. You're right..movies with folk in prison are kinda creepy..I dunno why but just typin' that made me think of that movie South Central--now THAT was a good movie.

lol..my bads, I couldn't help but mention another movie. But, I'm hoping to see Lift again too

Peace

I haven't seen that...I'll have to look it up...that made think about "Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood" that was a stupid movie...but funny I must admit. Another movie that I haven't seen or don't remember seeing is "Don't Be Menace To Society" have u seen that one??

Bonita_AppleBum

reply

Yeah, if that ever shows on BET or any other channel for that matter--definitely worth to check out:

Ya mean "Menace II Society"?--nah, I haven't seen that one. I noticed that Glenn Plummer played in both movies (this one & "South Central" the previous year).

As for "Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood" yeah, that movie's crazy--ridiculous plot, but hilarious

"It's the talk of tounge" - Color Shock

reply

LOL..yea mah bad I meant Menace II Society!!! I'm about to check out South Central and see what it's about...I might order it from Amazon if i'm feeling it.

Bonita, dunno if you're there..but I thought I'd let'cha know I saw the movie "Civil Brand"..man that was crazy..them girls went through some serious sh!t..that wasn't cool how they were being treated.

"It's the talk of tounge" - Color Shock

reply

I know...I decided to watch the first half with my mom (quality time) lol...anyways Da Brat is crazy as hell. It was good to see Lark (I forgot her last name) from "Saved By The Bell" females were just popping out of nowhere. Then Tichina Arnold came on screen and then I was kind of fellin it. I also liked to have seen that girl from "Dead Presidents" N'Bushe (forgot her last name) she was good too. it's an aight movie but I still hate prison movies. Okay now how did LisaRaye's daughter die again?? and what happen at the end after every died??

Bonita_AppleBum

reply

Lark Voorhies..I think that's how her last name is spelled. And it sure was a lot familiar females in that movie.

Then Tichina Arnold came on screen and then I was kind of fellin it.

Omg! I felt so sorry that her character had to go down on Deese..that scene was..crazy. That Deese dude was a straight up jackass..WORSE than that really..but yeah..he was always hatin' on Mos Def's character Michael, always callin' him "college boy". And MC Lyte's character was startin' to like Michael they both had to work together. But Tichina's character Aisha was the most hated b!tch at first but in the end she did the right thing..I think she turned in some kinda evidence..somethin' like that.

Okay now how did LisaRaye's daughter die again?? and what happen at the end after every died??

Yeah, Maxine..she died (drowned--I think). LisaRaye's character Frances, her sister visited the prison and told her and she (Frances) went bullistic (pardon if that's not spelled right). It was a sad scene..of course that wasn't the only one.

Frances and some other girl had to go to "the hole" and Frances was stayin' strong but the other girl was almost loosin' it..and Deese, that low down dirty dog gone come into the other girl's cell (in "the hole") and try to taunt her with drugs and Frances had to yell from her side to keep the other girl from fallin' victim to Deese's drug persuasion..just CRAZY!

In the end, I believe Da Brat got outta prison and at the end she said she was gonna go back to either Detroit or Chicago (one of the 2) and write a book about what she saw/went through and she said spread the word. Also, they won the case and that prison got shut down for good.

I think I described a good deal of the movie..just as accurate as I could. The movie is really somethin'..if it weren't nothin' else on I'd probably watch it again.

Oh yeah, I browsed on "Civil Brand" board. Someone said it's similar like "Set It Off"--do you think both movies are similar?

"It's the talk of tounge" - Color Shock

reply

Thanx for summing everything up for me. I have to admit the movie is kinda good...on a GOOD day that is. Deese was Clifton Powell right?? If so yea he was a jackass!! I will watch it again when the time is right since I do have the dvd and can watch it at any given time.

About "Set It Off" I think it does relate to "Civil Brand" becuz of the film being focused on females...but that's the only comparison I can make.

Bonita_AppleBum

reply

No prob. And yeah Clifton Powell did play as Deese. That guy's played in a lot movies..some as the bad guy.

Yea that the one!!!

I'm sorry I don't mean to be rude but are u a male or a female?? not that it matters cuz I start to say "gurl...ur so right" or something of that sort and then end up backspacing cuz i'm like "I don't know if lstruck is a boy or a girl" but yea anyways...I wish they would bring "Roc" back...maybe on TvLand or BET.

Yep, I just now looked on his profile--he did play as Andre..it's funny too b/c he was a bit smaller at that time compared to his character Deese..but of course a person's physical features can change over 8 years or so.

Hey it's cool, I'm definitely a girl LOL, I probably should've wrote the entire title of my IMDb name (lstruck is a shorten title from a Jesse Johnson [ever heard of him?] song called "Love Struck"--name shoulda been lovestruck--but it was a little too much for me, lol).

but yea anyways...I wish they would bring "Roc" back...maybe on TvLand or BET.

If you got TVOne you can see "Roc" on there. It comes on 10:30pm Central Time--right after "Martin" (another tv show for ya!). I'd like to see a marathon of the whole show..I liked how a lot of it was live..but still gave a good feel of reality to it--IMO, at least.

I don't think i've ever heard of a Jesse Johnson...At first I was like yea I know Jesse Jckson but then I looked again and was like OH!!! I knew the "L" stood for "Love" it just makes sense. it's cute though!!!

Naw I don't have TVOne...I never liked "In The House" though. That's the one with Debbie Allen and LL right?? I didn't like daughter but Debbie is my QUEEN!!! Yep that's the channel you can find it on. "In The House", I used to watch it a lot when it ran on Fox, but it was taken off. I liked the theme song, that was by LL, sayin' somethin' "no diggity no doubt"--I think that's ALL he said throughout the song, lol..but I liked the beat.

Omg!! I haven't caught the episodes when Debbie Allen is on there (which she is), daughter played by Maia Campbell. I had saw it when she and the boy (Austin) had left the house. Now, Alfonso Ribero a long with Kim Wayans are on the show. BTW, when you said Clifton--did you mean the boy that played as Austin on "In The House"?--I kinda seem to can't place him...

Anything "Youtube" comes up so slow...I was tryna watch some bad performance by Lauryn Hill last week and it was breaking in between. Youtube and my computer just don't get alonhg for some reason. I haven't even seen the music video "So What" by Field Mob featuring Ciara so I decided to watch it online and couldn't even do that. Yeah, sometimes videos on YouTube do that start 'n stop, start 'n stop b/c it depends on your internet connection or speed I should say. I have DSL but I still have to go through that problem on certain vids.

So, I take it you wasn't able to see the "Love Struck" video?

I might have to upload it on another site for ya, not using Flash.

Thanx gurl it worked better than "youtube" but it was still breaking in the visual department but the music ran right through so I was pleased.

I can't even lie ...I thought it was going to be some white rock band(which I have nothing against) "Lovestruck" just appeared to me that way, but I was definitely feeling that song...on the real though it was like a mixture of Micheal Jackson and Prince...now that song is stuck in my head..."lovestruck...lovestruck" (fades out)

I love pop type songs like that. Have u seen "Krush Groove??" that song reminded me of a song Sheila E did in that movie.

No prob Yeah, I tend to like to see videos in wmv (Windows Media Video) more so than Flash. They're just more cleared--IMO.

I can't even lie ...I thought it was going to be some white rock band(which I have nothing against) "Lovestruck" just appeared to me that way, but I was definitely feeling that song...

Yeah, I understand that. Jesse actually does play rock music and even has experienced in metal too.

on the real though it was like a mixture of Micheal Jackson and Prince...now that song is stuck in my head..."lovestruck...lovestruck" (fades out)

LOL, I'm not surprised you said that. Especially with Prince, b/c Jesse was apart of one of Prince's 1st protege bands (The Time). Jesse was the former guitarist, he went solo in '85 releasing Jesse Johnson's Revue, in '86 released Shockadelica, and in '88 released his last album on A&M Records Every Shade of Love. In the '96 he released a rock album titled Bare My Naked Soul--WAY better than Emancipation (The Artist '96 release)--IMO.

He's been compared to Prince MANY times in the past..esp. during '85 & '86. Even been called worse..but truthfully Jesse has his own style and really by '88 he kinda slides into somma'that New Jack!

Matter fact, check out this track from one Jesse's proteges:

"My Girl" - Kool Skool

http://www.zshare.net/audio/prince-jesse-johnson-kool-skool-my-girl-mp3.html

NOTE: The reason 'prince' is added in the title is b/c it's a tag..so that way it makes it easier to find. But Prince really doesn't have anything to do with this project. It's all Jesse's and Kool Skool's.

Tell me that track ain't New Jack soundin'! One of my favorites too. It sorda underground..although they did release an album and has made it to CD, back in 1990.

I love pop type songs like that.

I got lots more!

Have u seen "Krush Groove??" that song reminded me of a song Sheila E did in that movie.

OMG! I wanna see that movie!!! I wish TVOne would show it. I figured since they showed "Beat Street" months back, they'd be airing "Krush Groove"..but not yet. I think I have that song/video where Sheila E. did, it's called "A Love Bizarre". I could try 'n upload that for ya if ya like?
