'Dearly Departed'

I just saw a version of this play and let me tell you: everything about it is fantastic. The acting, the script; I especially loved the redneck humor in the movie and the ending itself was very touching.

I've heard this is a dismal adaptation of the play. Anyone here seen the play? Differences?
