Ray vs Junior......

Is it just me or did anyone else feel Junior was actually a more personable person?

Yes Junior cheated on his wife, and he was a dreamer, but he always seemed to have his family's best interest at heart. I think the cheating thing was a reaction to Charisse being such a nag and the kids being little monsters.

Ray however seemed like a cold and angry person throughout the entire movie. I understand he lost his dad, but his scenes with his wife were kinda hard to watch because he was also pretty short with her too. Lucille (Vivica is awesome when she plays the wholesome roles) was faithful, supportive and kind and Ray treated her as coldly as he treated the rest of the family.

Maybe it was just LL's delivery.

I don't have brothers but could relate to why they were that way. Ray decided to be the care taker. Being there for his parents and it showed during the scene where they were deciding on funeral arrangements. He kept trying to explain to Junior that he was going to have to pay for it and didn't want it going over the top w/ expenses. That could be why he seemed cold ~ he perhaps was holding in a lot of resentment especially towards Junior cuz Junior took off and had the family (kids) that Ray was still going for.

Junior is the type who perhaps was always on the move. My guess is as kids, he was the one ready to move on and far away from the family. He perhaps rushed into a marriage (which could explain his cheating) just cuz he felt marriage/kids was the thing to do.
