How come people keep downin this movie. I loved it, it had all my favorite actors, vivica, whoopi, jada, loretta, anthony. Good movie about a black family.

Actually this movie is based on a play called Dearly Departed that was about a family of southern somewhat rednecks. Not a black family. I've never seen this movie, but the play is hilarious.
shareThe movie didn't have some good BLACK actors and actress. It was an all star cast. Vivica A Fox, Jada, Lottera, Toni, LL Cool J, Etc.

shareAs a black southerner, this movie cracked me up with the little details it had like Jada Pinkett matching her lipstick to her outfit or, Loretta Divine matching her bible cover to whatever she was wearing...those are things that I had only seen in the small rural towns where my cousins lived.
I loved this movie!
I had problem with the cast, in fact I loved this ensemble it's just the movie itself I didn't care for. Everyone performed great with what they had to work with but the writing brought the movie down for me.

Not one white person in the cast list. Isn't that considered racism against white people? I know for sure black people would be screaming racism if a movie didn't have any black people in it. Hypocrisy is alive and well in da hood.
