I really love this movie, but I don't know where/if I can get it on DVD.
Does anybody know?
This is a question many people have been asking and, unfortunately, I have no answer (nor does anyone else). This is one of the finest films to come out of any country in a very, very long time and its unavailability is a horrible shame. I would like to see Criterion release this film but who knows?
shareIt makes me sad that a film this wonderful does not get the publicity that it deserves. I mean it only played for maybe two weeks at the Film Forum in NY, it should in fact be up for every major award. It was made almost 5 years ago, I know that it was distrubited by Cowboy Pictures in the US but they seem to have disapeared themselves. I would really love to see Criterion put this one out they would do it right.
I even had a friend search for it in China but all they had were priated copies that had only Japanese subtitles. Not to mention the one that they brought back for me was blank.
If anyone hears that it will be finally released on DVD in The US please let me know, thanks.

I am a chinese, This film is one of my faverate. Unfoturely,in disprite of being made 5 years ago, this film is still PROHIBITTED in china. So,you could't buy any DVD in china, not to mention a DVD with English SUBs.

I just picked this up at one of the libraries in Frederick County, MD. I'm sure that there's a library where you live that specializes in foreign films.
