And why wasn't the scroll just destroyed? Nobody uses it, it's dangerous, but destroying it is not an option...
Yeah it's a fun movie, I'm not trying to rip on it, just don't know if I missed something.

It wasn't destroyed, because then there wouldn't be any basic plot for the movie .

…Indeed, and if it got tattooed on the monk's body, it shows the scroll itself had no value, undermining the whole movie. Besides, if someone tattooed it, it meant (s)he had to read it, since nothing told us it could be magically engraved on the bearer when he becomes the guardian or whatever ?

Just because you have to read it, doesn't mean you have to read it out loud. That was the point, whoever read it outloud would get the power it contained, they never said that a person couldn't just read it to themselves in they're head. It wasn't the scroll that had value it was the words on the scroll that had value, he was just smart enough to put the words to the scroll in the hardest place for a person to get it and it does stand to reason that since the scroll itself is gone when it goes to the next guardians the tattoes would have to magically transfer to them else they have nothing to guard.

Just because the tatoo artist wrote it doesn't mean they could understand it. I know I don't understand the ancient mystical language. Besides I like to think he did it himself, he seems the sort. Pain would be no issue and notice its only written on his front. Nowhere he couldn't reach.

The tatooing didn't belong to the ordinary passing of the scroll. It was something chows char decided since he was pretty much hunted by the nazi for 60 years. When the scroll was sealed in the temple in china there was no need for that sort of thing. Anyway, the reason why they didn't destroy it I belive is also due to the fact that it could not only bring suffering to the world, he just said the world wasn't ready for it yet.

The power of the words are so strong it can bring peace and good but also bring harm and devistation. In the future this power will help us but not until we evolve until then it must be protected.The scroll was destroyed.. remember the scroll was a decoy the scroll was a noddle recipe or something.. the words are the power which where tattooed to the body this could have being done many ways I think Monk did it himself. But if not he could have gone to several people to get it put on so not one person read the full thing.
