Not A Great Movie At All, But The Ghosts..

Dear God, the ghosts are actually traumatizing.

Especially Jackal; the face, the outfit, the gestures. Every single thing about the Jackal terrify the crap outta me.

Also the Juggernaut, is very very spine-chilling. Hands down, the scariest American movie ghosts ever.

What ghost terrify you the most?

the Jackle freaked me when i frst saw it when it came out

reply

Definitely the Hammer. God, his story and his appearance sends chills down my spine.

The ghosts were very well done. I actually wish that more of them had more of a part in the movie though. Clearly the Jackal, Juggernaut, and the Hammer were scariest which is why I believe the mainly focused on those 3 but it would have been great to show more of the others. Idk maybe that would have took the movie's scare factor up a notch.

In the "making of" on the DVD, the actors playing the ghosts were coming out of a room all in costume and the Jackal and Juggernaut kind of look at each other and start cracking up. As for which ghosts were disturbing, outside of the 3 mentioned, the Pilgrimess is pretty freaky looking as the Angry Princess(I give Shawna Lawyor a ton of credit for playing a role of something completely in the nude and making it as disturbing as it can get...nice cans BTW).

The Jackal is by far the freakiest horror character I've ever seen. What an amazing make up job.

"I don't roll over for ANYBODY! especially the FEDS, without a GODDAMN GOOD EXPLANATION!"

reply

That scene when they're pulling Shannon Elizabeth along and the Jackal is chasing is terrifying. The direction is perfect. I was watching that thinking: "Man, this is some scary s**t!"

reply

Still the only film I'm scared of watching. And I'm a 21 year old guy who doesn't scare easily anymore, yet the *beep* Jackal man, he still scares the *beep* out of me.

Im an agent of chaos!

reply

A bit of backstory for some of the ghosts would have been nice. I wanted to know more about the fat ghost and his mother.

reply

It's all there on the movie's wiki entry.

reply

They did give them all backgrounds but only used them for a special feature on the dvd release.

Honestly I think it was a blown opportunity not to have tried an anthology film to showoff the stories of how the ghosts came to be. Hell even on a direct to video budget it probably could have worked great if the actors came back to film their respective origins.

Which even stranger is the film itself doesn't even show Jean's death only plays around it for the opening credits. There certainly was some potential there.

Oh, I agree and was here to post something similar. For some reason the Juggernaut is one of the scariest movie characters I've seen along with the Creeper.

The journey was terrible...the trip was alright

I'm watching this now and I just said to my husband, "I feel like I shouldn't like this movie as much as I do but the ghosts are just so damn awesome."

The Jackal is definitely my favorite.

Sure, this movie could have been much better. A more desirable cast, stronger direction and a finer script would have made all the difference, but the stars of the movie were the ghosts. The makeup and special effects were excellent. Each ghost was visually stunning and horrifying and they were given just enough screen time to leave a long-lasting impression. Any one of the 12 ghosts could easily star in their own solo movie.
