one of the saddest moments...

when emily moved away or went away for a long time and little bear was really sad.

i don't remember the whole story, but i think it was his mom or the person watching after him was holding him and he was drinking a bottle and he started crying.

i wish this was on nick jr. still. it was the only show i loved growing up.

Pan, you're...pink

I remember that. I'm sure it was Mother Bear who was cradling him as he was drinking a bottle when he started to cry. That was a very sad moment, indeed.

You can find Little Bear DVDs around online shops or video stores. Or you can catch the show on Noggin where they're airing it again.

I'm currently watching that. XD Bored. Wow. There was an episode like that? -goes to check-

I think it was called "Love, Little Bear" or something like that. First time I saw it was when my son was a baby. He is 6 now and that episode still moves me to tears; I swear, at the time I thought I was going through post partum when I saw it and cried. They've aired it a few times lately and I still get that weepy feeling when I see it; it's that realitic and it's only a cartoon; I have to keep telling myself that:-) It's very well done.

Kids shows of the 80s and 90s were just of higher quality than today's.
That episode was really touching and apparently has stuck with us for all these years. That says something.

No, you are blinded by nostalgia and your bias makes you too naive to know good from bad in shows. Comments like this are beyond old and tiring to see and need to stop.

That said, Little Bear is the best no matter what year it came out.

We're collecting dust, but our love's enough.

I was surprised to see a reply to that comment since it's over five years old, but the sentiment still applies. Producers on kids shows admit that networks don't put as much effort into quality as quantity anymore. But I can see why you'd want to revive this thread.

I used to watch "Little Bear" with my daughter in the morning around with "Blue's Clues" and I remember the Emily episode. It was really wonderful and it made me remember the time a very close friend of mine moved away when I was a child. When they talk about great children's shows, "Little Bear" should always be in the conversation. The show was terrific.

OK, exactly WHY would a mom be cradling her 6-YEAR-OLD in a ROCKING CHAIR and feeding him MILK from A BOTTLE?! This bear is too big to rock with Mommy, and should be weaned by now. Plus, if his mom holds in a rocking chair all his life, he'll grow up to be insecure and he'll have too strong a bond to Mommy to leave the nest, get married, and have kids! An entire generation of bears is not gonna happen and the species of bear Little Bear is will go extinct, all thanks to Mother Bear.

She is rocking him while he drinks a mug of cocoa. I can tell you're not a parent bc you don't know that sometimes parents rock children or snuggle them to comfort them, which is what she was doing. He didn't want to go w father bear to say his goodbyes to Emily bc he was too sad, so his mom made him cocoa once they left and he sat on her lap drinking it and cried. I thought it was very poignant and I love the innocence of the show and my children do too.

My mother showed me that episode as a kid when I had to move from my best friend. I miss the cartoons I grew up with so much better than the crap they have on now =/

R.I.P Angel, you fought a good fight, I will miss you, I love you.

That one was on today! He lets a balloon go and she finds it and writes him. (It is still on Nick Jr.) I love watching it w my little son; it reminds me of all that's good, innocent and uncomplicated about childhood. Maybe it's bc I'm pregnant w number two, but whenever I hear that piano music they play during scenes, I almost cry.

"I like you just as you are. I always thought that goes without saying..."

I think it would've been sadder if Emily and Little Bear sang If I Never Knew You from Pocahontas. And I'm talking about the deleted Judy Kuhn/Mel Gibson version.
