New TV series was shopped around summer of 2016 SPOILERS for newer books

Maupin and Linney were shopping around a potential TV short-form series in June of 2016, I believe. No word on what happened. Dukakis is interested.

I wonder if it would take place after the very latest book, "The Days of...," or incorporate them?

This third mini-series is a serious disappointment. Among other things, the lighting of the sets is horrendous. Perhaps they were trying to duplicate the harsh feel of sitcoms and shows of the early 80s, when this is set, but it just looks cheap. The Barbaray Lane location appears very much like a TV show shot on a stage.

They must have really cut the costs on this one. It is half the length of "More..."

As much as I hate to see recast reboots, the whole series of books would make an excellent extended series of several years. Of course, the characters age forty years over nine books, and that would not be feasible.

Now, if they go with some of the original cast from the 90s - '01, they pretty much have to skip "Babycakes," etc, and perhaps jump to the last three books, set in the past ten years.
