Wikipedia.org reported that Funimation would be releasing a Shin chan Dvd on September 18,2007 which is todays date, but yet no news about it... does anyone know if its just a rumor? or pushed back?

Amazon is officially "selling" the dvd as they had its release date set as the 18th of September, although when I bought the dvd it said that it would take 4 to 6 weeks to ship. But no stores beyond amazon even have the dvd in their system so its that or nothing as of now, only time will tell if it actually ships.

I just bought the one from Amazon and now I'm just waiting for it to arrive.

Does anyone know if this is the Adult Swim/English version? There's no box art, and the other reviewers aren't really saying so. The info section on the page says it's in English and Japanese but it's possible they could be subtitles. Anyone know for sure?

i honestly dont trust Amazon now, i heard they just screwed some people on a Dethklok DethAlbum preorder a while back and now we cant even get Shin chan without a 4 to 6 week wait!

I just canceled mine. I didn't feel waiting a month for it to ship, let alone get here. That's assuming they actually have it at all. I'll just wait till something official is announced.

NERV, if you ordered on from Amazon and you get it let me know.

Apparently, there was some controversy regarding a joke in Crayon Shin-chan and the Church of Scientology. So, to answer your question, yes it has been pushed back until the court settlement. bastard scientologists.

I honestly don't know what the big deal is. Its only in one episode (that i know of) and the joke's not even that bad. Not NEARLY on the scale of, say, South Park.

Georgie goes over to Shin's apartment and when he leaves in a hurry he forgets his backpack. Mitzi says something like: "That's so unlike him. Should I call his mother and have her check his room for drugs or L. Ron Hubbard literature?"

Big deal.

Who knows, maybe it was just some rumor that was started by some guy who felt there had to be a logical reason for the DVD release being delayed for so long so that Funimation wouldn't have to take the heavy load of all the blame like they had to years ago.

And since the CoS is extremely sensetive over their critics, they were an easy target for this rumor because of that ONE line from that ONE episode that probably would otherwise have slipped under the radar.

I guess we'll never know, i cant find anything on this subject besides the wikipedia posting and since wikipedia is fan edited ... i guess you cant really trust it, all i know is its past the amazon given date, i dont have Shin chan Vol 1 in my Dvd player now... and im pissed.. Hell hath fury but not like a pissed off fan

If that is really the reason ShinChan DVDs are being postponed, I'm incredibly disappointed. I fail to understand how some religions feel the need for special treatment (COUGH Scientology) while others, I suppose, are firm enough in their beliefs they don't get up in arms over a small joke on TV once in awhile.

Love those double standards!

Umm ... could it be because scientology isn't really a religion, but a "positive lifestyle" developed by a sci-fi writer?

Kind of hard to be "firm in your beliefs" about something that really isn't a belief ... just another sci-fi story ..... maybe we could develop the church of shinchantology ....

"...and if you send just $29.95, Shin Chan will pass gas in your general direction, blessing you and all in it's path."
