Confusing part - someone explain

ok there was a part of this movie that I was a little bit confused as to what was going on...

so not long after Thea and Coles were hooking up and Sam was upset, they ran into each other in the subway and coles was yelling at her and calling her a bitch and then he gets arrested by the cops. I was confused. was that a flashback to the first scene in the movie? or was it just supposed to be similar to their first meeting? was it right after the hooking up / cheating incident, like he followed her out of the apartment, or was it a completely different time when they just happened to run into each other again in the subway station???

can someone enlighten me on that part?
and why was he getting handcuffed? and why'd he yell "F#$k you" to her? she's not the one who cheated on him....

It was the morning after Coles had sex with Thea. Sam walks out when she discovers Coles sleeping next to Thea and he follows her.

He becomes enraged because she's leaving him. He cheated on her with Thea because she and Thea had what he believed was a threesome at an earlier party. Her leaving him was not what he foresaw. As far as he was concerned it was revenge sex.

He was handcuffed for jumping the train barriers without a ticket.

To say a little often is to tell more than to say a great deal.
