My Main Issues With Windtalkers!

Now I have watched this movie both on cable and dvd and it isn't as
bad as some of the many posters have claimed. Now of course the
filmmakers, producers and John Woo had to take the usual amount
of "cinematic liberties" in order to create an exciting and for
the most part entertaining film about a true to life chapter of
WW II. Though my main issues are:

1. Director John Woo spent way too much time focusing on the
many battle scenes between the US Marines and the Japanese.

2. As he's done in all of his other movies, he added so many
unbelievable and unrealistic action stunts and scenarios
which although were thrilling to watch were just so implausible!
One poster mentioned how in one battle scene where one Marine
fired six shots at the enemy and managed to take out six
Japanese soldiers! Wow how thrilling and implausible! LOL!!!

3. John Woo could have and should have invested more time and
effort in having the script tell us much more about the
background information regarding the Navahos and why they
chose to fight for the USA. None of this was mentioned in
the script.

4. Again a detailed explanation of the Navahos and their tribal
background stories would have added more interest for the
viewers and would have also enhanced the storyline as well.

5. The Navaho Marines were portrayed as too "one-dimensional"
and we really did not get to know any of them on a personal
level. Yes the acting by Adam Beach and the other native
american actors was fine though not enough character development.

I really enjoy the movies of John Woo though I graded this film
an even "6" and it doesn't deserve any higher rating. It could
have and should have been a much better film overall!
