Feels really old fashioned

I find it hard to believe this was made after movies like Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down and The Thin Red Line. The battle scenes and action music are particularly bad, looking and sounding like something from the 60's. Even Pearl Harbor did a better job of evoking tense and realistic battles than this pile of garbage.
